Mid-morning on a Bank Holiday Monday and Seaburn in sunny Sunderland on the coast of NE England is already busy.
Left to return home for some lunch, by which time traffic was trailing all the way back along the seafront to Roker, and beyond.
It's good to see our seafront attracting so many visitors, but I'm not sure where they were all going to get parked.
Pleased to confirm that I enjoyed my first 'plodge' of the season, hopefully the first of many.
Good news also if your four-legged friend enjoys getting their paws in the water, Sunderland's seafront has a number of clearly marked dog-friendly sections, such as this one.
I know I have said it before, but it's great to have such a lovely Blue Flag Beach just a ten-minute drive from your doorstep.

What a fantastic weekend its been for my home town of Sunderland in NE England.
Blue skies, the sunshine cracking the pavements, SAFC beating Chelsea at the Stadium of Light and across at the city's Herrington Country Park, the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend seeing thousands of music fans getting into festival spirit.
The weather undoubtedly played a blinder and those panoramic shots on TV of Herrington Country Park with the iconic Penshaw Monument in the background were something else.
Sunderland never looked so good ahead of Olivia Dean bringing down the curtain to this event as the closing act.
Best of all, the actual Bank Holiday is still to come tomorrow with yet more sunshine and even warmer temperatures – enjoy!

I realise I'm fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the countryside and do appreciate that many people come here because of that, and that tourism is an important part of the local economy. However, sunny bank holidays bring a sort of inevitable dread.. one fatality on the roads so far and road still closed, another serious accident and life changing injuries, at least one dead sheep due to a dog being let off its lead, parked cars blocking pavements, farm gates, cattle grids and access for larger vehicles on narrow roads, town full of really pissed and sunburnt people etc etc. Most locals hide away on weekends like this, off to the allotment when it cools down a bit. #RuralLife #BankHoliday
