Despite appearances, I think this orchestra is actually a little smaller than nearly 90 musicians the original score by Berlioz calls for!

i don't care what #DNC shitlibs think
just take over the #democratic party
there are people who make demands, and on that basis expect someone else to change, and do the work for them
what useless entitled whining
we build our own base. we show the fuck up and #vote. in the fucking #primaries! #Mamdani. #AOC. #ElSayed. #AngieNixon. etc
fixating on centrist corporatist #democrats is ineffectual navel gazing
just fucking ignore them, and replace them

Lots of articles showing up aboout how people think they've identified the first corporate psychopath. Well, OK, but how about instead we end all corporate psychopaths.

Playing through The Last of Us Part II and I think the series is definitely in my top 5. It is a cut above most other AAA titles. I love story driven games and this story is exceptional. Just gutted the rumoured Part III doesn't look like it will have a PC release #TheLastOfUs

I think I just took my meds twice so I'm looking forward to a new version of this thread.

I agree! I think the Republic needs you. I'm glad you chose to serve—I feel things are going to happen in our generation that will change the galaxy in profound ways.

Completed #DeathStranding2. Still think "Ghost in the Rain" by #BeastInBlack belonged among the music selections, though it probably would make more sense in #DeathStranding (the first)--it's the song that plays in my head when I think of the ending cinematic from the first game, and that's also what I think of when I listen to it.

Damn. I don't think this Poker 2 is coming back from a second catastrophic detachment of it's mini-USB port :/

Single Sign-On is one of those technologies we seldom think about, yet it can be a significant time saver at scale. For more time savers, see the other contributions to the latest expert panel.

Best part, I think, is the 'topsy-turvy' soundtrack 'snippet' from "Vertigo" ...

I still think that the greatest thing about PHP was the learning progression from HTML.
You added snippets to it and they resolved on the server! Magic!
Extremely natural when learning by doing…

That is how it works really in the new world I think a lot of us were raised um with to many out dated values. The old paradigm of business is dead

I see sentiment that there's "good AI," but I think I'll have to disagree.
I've seen tools that are intended to help artists—i.e. "close this hand," "change these eyes," stuff that takes more fiddling with to get looking right—and I still can't quite condone their use at all.
Your job as an artist is to figure this stuff out. You are literally here because you understand translating 3D concepts to 2D images; generative AI, no matter how small in its applications, is going to cause any of your skills to atrophy. It often relies on datacenters, which are *still* guzzling water and having drastic effects on farmers across the globe. It's a global warming machine that takes away our knowledge and replaces it with dependence.
We should never be using AI to create, nor as a mentor or teacher.

@MadeleineS One of the things you inspired me to think about with your knitting of elementary CA patterns is whether we can get the machine itself to do the computation. The data would be stored in the position of the needles on the bed, and the output would appear as the knitted pattern. The whole thing would be mechanical, no electronics or computers involved. I'm sure you've thought about this too.
There's a 3D-printed design for a knitting machine here: https://youtu.be/eFesPhYR8KI by Sparks Curiosity. It would need a pretty major overhaul but I want to dream that it's possible.
Ideally one could change the settings on the carriage to select one of the 256 elementary CA but even if it was hard-wired to do just one CA (one of the universal ones) it would still be very cool to see, and could still be programmed by setting the needle positions.
Let me know what you think! Did you see someone doing this before?

If you organize a "prescription drug take back" event I think it is only right that you should get to keep a cut of the prescription drugs you want.

I like Lula, but I think the Brazilian elections were a real kick in the ass for Trump.

"But that's brilliant!"
"Why did we never think of that?"
"Because you two were just time lords, you dumbos! Lacking that little bit of human, that gut instinct that comes hand in hand with planet Earth. I can think of ideas you two wouldn't dream of in a million years! Oh, the universe has been waiting for me!"

Mike McCarthy says the Veterans are leading the way for the younger Steeler players: “I think our veterans have done a great job of giving back, and our young guys are responding. It's a challenge every year. You look at your veterans and your young players, and there's always a gap between them. Over time, you see that gap start to close, and that's important. You have to keep winning while it happens, too. Our young guys are playing meaningful snaps, and they're contributing. That's been a big part of what we're building.” #Steelers #NFL

I wonder... do they and others think blind folks and folks with low vision don't vote? Do they think people who rely on screen readers don't vote? Or notice? I think so. Urging them to make their content accessible HELPS THEM reach more people. So if you want him to win, help him grow his reach.

"When we build, when we think, when we act, we do so in honor of every object, thought, and action which has preceded this one, and we are changed by the process."

I really wish people in IT would take a deep breath and think twice before using words such as "10x" and "AI" in contexts outside of their work. You're not going to "10x" bridge-laying even if use "leverage AI" in the most efficient manner. You can't download a bridge model from printables.com ya know. You can barely 1.1x your own database migrations, maybe start by focusing on that instead?
