Of course a viola case would have really freaked out the rum runners of the gangster period.
-
I love the sound of the viola tbqh very rich sound.
-
Of course since this is the Baroque, the keyboardist is also making it up on the fly.

@otheorange_tag @MatthewTitus88 If he is well trained then yes.

@Dianora That must have been that perfect fifth! #BeethovenJoke #BaroqueSun

Basses are loaded and there is a fly...
-
If the keyboardist isn't careful he' s going to eat a fly.
-
@MatthewTitus88 He must be the conductor, or think he's the conductor. #BaroqueSun

Modern bows and viola/violins. No chinrest in the Baroque eh? Longer fingerboard, slightly bent headstock. Must more pressure on strings due to higher pitch than the Baroque.
-
I've played this one before! both as viola and violin 1, there are some tricky syncopated bits. Hey this blue dress is a red dress moving towards?! #BaroqueSun

This isn't the exact video but it is one he did.

@otheorange_tag There are a few modern makers of Natural and vented (Baroque) trumpets. There is/was a local guy who used to (Still might?) held a class on building natural trumpets. Robert Barclay.
I happened to meet him once briefly years ago.
https://www.seraphinoff.com/about-the-international-trumpet-making-workshopsIf you look he has a series on youtube of him building a natural trumpet from scratch at a local museum.

A perfect fifth?! #GetInMyBelly! #BaroqueSun

Yes, English horns and oboes use nearly identical fingerings, but they are pitched differently and require a larger physical stretch and more air.Fingerings and TranspositionSame Fingerings: The standard finger patterns for the notes you read on the page are the same on both instruments, making it easy for an oboist to switch.Different Keys: The oboe is pitched in C, while the English horn is pitched in F (a perfect fifth lower). #BaroqueSun (so same diff as violin & viola

@otheorange_tag Oboe and modern piano. Not HIP but ok.

@otheorange_tag @MatthewTitus88 Right on. But remember equal temperament is a Romantic and Classical period preference. Equal temperament goes a long way back but was not liked as much as some of the other temperaments. A natural scale is very easy for a singer and violin player but impossible for a keyboardist without the micro-tonal keyboard. Always have to make compromises to play with only 13 keys.
