I ❤️ my tracksaw
If you have the makita battery platform, getting their track saw is a no brainer.
If you have any other battery platform (I’m primarily DeWalt), you should still get the Makita track saw.
I got this originally as a stop-gap before my table saw, but it’s really so useful in scenarios where handling a work piece in the table saw would be unwieldy or dangerous with one person.

Made this coffee table from timber I salvaged after Cyclone Alfred crossed Brisbane in March 2025. 🪵
The main frame uses hardwood reclaimed from old pallets, ebonised to near-black to contrast against the storm-debris hardwood. The central ring was steam-bent from two halves, then topped with glass to protect and finish the piece.
From disaster debris to something functional.

It mostly turned out like the drawing!
I wanted to make a bin for glues and such for my garage and use it as a chance to practice rabbet & dado joints on the table saw. It’s 1/2” ply with a dadoed in luan bottom. A few small mistakes along the way, but I’m happy with how it came out for my first attempt at a box.
Sadly I don’t have screws short enough to attach the French cleat, so gotta wait for the next hardware store run before I can put it to use.

Storing old hardware over many years has been good for my current cat shelter construction project. These bolts were found in my collection.... and I was able to match them to nuts and washers. It looks like I have enough to finish this project, without needing to drive to the store to buy more parts.

The cat shelter is almost done. I had some set-backs in the construction, like a 24-hour power outage. But the feral momma cat (solid black) and some of her kittens (from two different litters) are getting used to eating in it. I hope to make the door today. (It will be my first time making a door.)
I currently have 15 cats! Many of them are inside the house.

A regular customer in the Concord neighborhood of #AndersonSC requested drilling of holes for installation of a total of 28 kitchen cabinet handles. Since this is usually done when the cabinets are new, we don't do this often but we have done it a number of times now!

Cat Shelter Construction In-Progress
The feral, black momma cat has now brought two different litters to my house. Her current litter is nearly weened, so I am in a race to finish constructing this shelter, where I plan to isolate the momma cat (who has never let me pet her, and sometimes hisses at me) and keep her fed and safe in this shelter, while preventing the male neighborhood cats from getting her pregnant again. I already have 15 cats! (Some are indoors.)

Putting a roof on the porch and it's hot as hell up here right now; we've got asphalt shingles on the house and the heat index is 99 Fahrenheit.

A customer in #AndersonSC required a balcony railing to be rebuilt due to weathering. Tuxedo Home Maintenance dismantled the railing and rebuilt it, replacing necessary components and restoring to as-new condition!

I needed to put my table saw on a more sturdy platform, so I grabbed some scrap 2x4s, bought a 2x4, and built my own.
Learned how to make my own pocket hole jig as well!
It came together rather nicely. Plans are from here, except I didn't do the 2x4 top/shelf - just reused the top from the previous unsturdy table.

A customer in Anderson had unsafe deck stairs and dilapidated balusters leading to their upstairs rear entrance. Tuxedo Home Maintenance was hired to replace the treads balusters, making the doorway safe to use again!

I made a clamp holder today. It came out… fine. The next one will have a taller back because I wish this engaged with the next cleat below for more heft.
On the plus side, I got to use the bandsaw I got working recently, and my old 1946 drill press.

back on the bandsaw repair:
I've fully quantified just how cursed this arbor is. the hole in the back was drilled at a slight angle, this is the hole that slips onto the motor shaft, so the arbor has a wobble.
The threaded hole that accepts a bolt & washer to hold the wheel on is straight, but drilled in the center of the bottom of the angled hole, so it's offset.
I did a small test wheel attempting to counteract for these shenanigans, and it mostly worked.
I'm gonna try it on a full size print next. We'll see what it looks like in the morning!
