  1. Today it is Mythos. Tomorrow it will be something else.

The pattern stayvendorlockin #securitystrategy #appsec #operationalresiliencempanies need urgency to position themselves.

Everyone wants to attach themselves to the next big wave and present themselves as the answer.

Real organizational readiness is not about pushing AI into every layer because the current panic cycle says so. The practical test for any change is much simpler:

    • Does it strengthen existing tools and workflows?

• Does it preserve model and vendor optionality?

    • Does it reduce backlog and repetitive operational drag?

    • Does it reduce attack surface by removing software, access, and exposure you do not need?

    • Does it reinforce the boring fundamentals like inventory, patching, least privilege, segmentation, and recovery?

Without those checks, you are mostly just trading places. One dependency gets swapped for another. One vendor stack gets replaced by another. One kind of complexity becomes another. Very little materially improves.

Most of the time, we just kick the ball a few months further down the road and call it progress.

I wrote about many of these ideas in my pragmatic guide:

  4. Today starts the three-day obscenity that is the Ambani-Merchant wedding in India

The wedding costs ~$600M, only a fraction of Mukesh Ambani's net worth ~$123B (Asia's richest and 10th richest man in the world).

Wedding guests are international politicians, international pop stars, Hollywood and Bollywood stars - the world's rich and powerful.

A symbol of everything 'rotten in Denmark' - a plight on how we design our world.

'Affordability' is a contested and non-empirical term, and misaligned. Research shows severe equity concerns in these schools and learning outcomes are variable. These schools are also no longer 'overlooked'.

Globally, a quarter of a billion (224 million) children have had their education disrupted due to crisis, and 72 million children are out of school.

  19. Good ideas and good research take years to incubate, grow, and realise.

    You need *time*.

Time to think, to try, to talk, to throw up and out 'silly' ideas and theories - some which aren't so silly in the end - to be bored, to revisit, to connect.

  20. LLMs are the junk food of the internet : everyone’s consuming them, whether it’s nutritious or not.

    So here’s a spicy thought:

Should we keep screaming “Ban the bots, block the crawlers, burn the models”?

Or should we "as engineers" do what we do best : build better things. Maybe create content that actually improves what these glorified autocomplete machines learn.

Because let’s face it : LLMs are here to stay. Not because they’re perfect. But because someone threw a billion dollars at them and now they need ROI like oxygen.

Policy folks can debate whether we should have LLMs.

As an engineer, I’m asking : if they’re unavoidable, do we make the flood smarter, or keep yelling at the dam?

Thoughts? Resist, block, or reluctantly refine?

  22. As AI tools become part of our daily workflows, a weird duality is emerging:

👨‍💻 Developers are fluent in code but not always in natural language.
They know what they want the AI to do… but struggle to phrase it in a way that gets the right output.

Fluent in Python, broken in English.

🧑‍🏫 Non-developers can explain ideas and goals clearly…
But they don’t know the “magic keywords” that trigger the right AI response.

Great at asking, missing the insider lingo.

Now throw in the final twist:
    🎲 AI responses aren’t deterministic.
You might get a different answer every single time for the same prompt.

    So what we have is:
🔹 Two groups of experienced people
🔹 Learning a new language (prompting)
🔹 To talk to a system that behaves like a moody oracle.

We’re not just learning to "code with AI" — we’re learning how to communicate with it.
And that's a whole new skill in itself.
