  1. @metin
I would think about listing it. It feels like the price hike and constraint on supple of RAM and hard disk drives is part of a goal to eliminate the personal computer and our ability to use our right to free software. To force everyone to only use #bigCorp based storage of all their data. ie rent not buy your storage and your software and your data.
Just look at google now limiting what software we can run on an android computer that we own.

  2. @FluentInFinance
wow, I have over 832,000 new friends this month alone. I wonder if we can now change some #maga policies or make the democrats pay attention to something besides a #bigCorp wish list.
Vote in november like your life depends on it.

  3. Digital privacy was never about being secretive or having something to hide.

Lack of digital privacy and storing of personal data, long term, means a rise of
    digital surveillance,
    digital control,
    and
Corporations which will grow in revenue and power beyond those of governments.

And we will consequently sacrifice this in name of convenience and "Security".

  4. If there exists #corporations in our modern world, with net value/revenue equal to, or higher than some #countries and #governments, what makes You #think that those corporations are not part of, and do not have #influence over governments, or don't cooperate with them ?
We need to wake up and see, that consumerism and corporations go far above selling and buying, and that they are equally a part of how our countries function, and how we are being influenced in variety of ways.

  5. Forming abstract thoughts and ideas is one of the most primal abilities in a human species.
How much is this ability of ours being used in the forming of current society, by governments and by corporations ?

Around 1920 an idea started developing, that humans live in a dream world, that started being later picked up by marketing and governance. What makes You think that this foundational part of being a human isn't used in building current systems and exerting influence over masses, using this as their weak spot ?

How much of current cosumerism and work culture is based on selling dreams and abstract ideas ? How much of sales is being made by convincing people of abstract needs and wants, they didn't even know they had or needed before coming in touch with those who try to sell it ?

"American Dream" ? Dreams of freedom. Dreams of luxury. Dreams of riches. Dreams of convenience. Dreams of safety. Dreams of happiness.

If we aren't just naive sheeps, who want simple things - love, belonging, community. Being sold knock off versions of it, symbols of human needs, without any tengible coverage...

  6. Back in the day, when I still attended school, I managed to read something extremely interesting that didn't leave my mind since then.
It was a school book about society study, which mentioned that we are moving away from age of product, to the age of information.
This may seem simple and of no importance, but seeing it unfold over the Years, and having the awareness of how much of our society is affected by what is being bought, this puts everything in perspective.

Post World War II world, between approx. 1945-1970 turned around working class, with better pay, better life conditions and better education.
After this period, when people already bought all they needed, and didn't need no more, it became clear that to sell what is being produced, things must change.

Many things did indeed change, and especially the fact that it's the selling that became the belly button of the world, thus - the product.
This is the world we know, world of buying, shopping, needing, wanting. Psychology played no small role in that, as marketing products to people and making sales was closely related to that.

After 2000s and moving forward with development of internet and online sales, we are slowly moving into the era where the new medium of sales becomes data and information. Those who see it, will not be able to unsee it, and the faster we realize it, the faster we can break free.

One of the largest companies currently are those who collect and sell data. Advertising and buying products is based on YOUR, costumer information, advertisements and algorithms. We sell virtual currencies, virtual items... Among NFTs, games and subscriptions.

Those who see it, will be able to wake up from this dream faster.

    The real questions here are;

How will he be held accountable for this?

What changes are being made so next time we learn about this before the election is held?

What changes are being made so others dont feel they can do the same thing?

Will the #Democrats learn anything and will the #bigCorp media report it?

  10. @paninid
this should be extended to include #bigCorp
Whatever we allow a big corporation ...
They are the ones taking your privacy and rights away.
We can stop a democratic government from abusing us by voting. It was designed that way.

That is why the billionaires/bigCorps have been working on destroying our democracy first.

Think about the take over of the media; see 60 minutes last night.

  11. @baldur
    The best analogy I have heard of is;
"its the asbestos of the technology world, we will be removing and remediating it for generations to come."
    #AI #technology
#democracy is more than voting! we-the-people need to control what #bigCorp does.

  12. RE: toot.cat/@freiksenet/115598578

"The net result is that a huge number of our leaders are essentially stealing money, but they can't withdraw the money directly, so they have to spend the organization's capital on expensive nonsense to purchase status then convert that status into a better salary somewhere else at a really, really bad exchange rate."

I realized that in a lot of companies. Management doesn't have technical skill and doesn't understand what they're selling. So it's impossible to create a good (technical) strategy on how to sell their product. Plus, that would be slow (even though it ensures long-term stability).

The result is "networking", self-promotion, and short-term increases of stock price (e.g. by firing people aka decreasing costs), then jumping to the next company.

    #enshittification #bigcorp

  13. @Techmeme
    yea, and you point is???

I'm looking for the last time apple passed on their #republican #bigcorp tax cuts to the consumers.

I'm looking for a negative surcharge fee add to my bill from any corp and cant find one.

  14. @gottalaff.bsky.social
I saw the conservatives are disobeying 1/2 but was it providing only 1/2 of what they need to the people or is it only 1/2 the people what they need.

Words matter and the important part is they are disobeying the order.
That should be a punishable offense.

The #bigCorp media needs to starting doing their job and asking these questions.

  15. False claim: "If the Democratic party does not get off the #bigCorp bandwagon and start working for the people, then they are little different than the Republicans."

Facts: This is what Republicans did and Democrats would not do:
Appoint rightwing nuts to the Supreme Court.
Deport many good people based on their race.
    Make abortion illegal nationwide.
Attack nations such as Venezuela for no good reason.
Cause friends such as Canadians to hate us.
Send soldiers to patrol our cities. etc. 2/2

  16. False claim: "If the Democratic party does not get off the #bigCorp bandwagon and start working for the people, then they are little different than the Republicans."

Facts: This is what Republicans did and Democrats would not do:
Alienate friendly nations including Canada, Australia, and European nations.
Pass a law cutting Medicaid and using that money for more tax cuts for billionaires.
    Sell pardons to dangerous criminals.
Given pardons to criminals who attacked the police on #January6th. 1/2

  17. @RonSupportsYou @renewedresistance
we should be reminded of an old saying:
You cann't make improvements without making changes but not all changes are improvements.

We-the-people need to hear what is going to be changed, not just that changes are going to be make.

If the democratic party does not get off the #bigCorp bandwagon and start working for the people then they are little different than the republicans; they use softer language but we all will continue to loose.

  18. @RonSupportsYou
I agree; I didnt mean it to be taken so literally. Unless you have a JAG officer assigned to you you have no way of knowing.
but I do think the media and by extension everyone should be thinking about this. The GOP and their #bigCorp backers along with the corporate dems and working hard to destroy our democracy and replace it with a feudal system of government.
Do we have to wait until the conservatives are killing in our streets. They are already denying health care and food.

  19. @evacide I dont worry about the gov or law enforcement, I worry more, a lot more, about #bigCorp studing what we do and learning how to manipulate us.

  20. @karlauerbach
We need to stop calling it a ball room.

He is building a memorial to himself, like the Lincoln or washington memorial.

I wouldnt be surprised if the title to it is in the tRump #bigCorp name with a 1$ land lease agreement.

That way when we reestablish our democracy in this country we will have to pay him before it can be torn down or repurposed into a food bank and community health service center.

    #grift #gop
    #democracy is more than voting.

  21. @quasirealsmiths
The rapture might have happened, I see all the #bigCorp #conservatives are still here.

  22. @RealJournalism
All of these issues are opposed by the #bigCorp and until we can remove the bigCorporate democrats and get some real progressive democrats in office we will continue to loose. and we need them in all offices not just the top offices. They will need support. That mean school boards, city and county boards, advisory committees, planning commissions, AG, etc.
and we need honorable people serving. That is a quality in short supple right now.

  23. @juliusgoat.bsky.social
we are also being trained to confuse economic efficiency with public service effectiveness.

efficient health care is every doctor and nurse making money for a #bigCorp and making more money every hour.

effective health care is doctors and nurses with little to do but ready and trained to handle emergencies when they arise.

    #healthCare #Democrac

  24. keep in mind that #bigCorp is paying both parties so why do we expect a different outcome.

We need progressive people, not dem or rep but people that understand what democracy means, its not just how we vote.

How we get it I have no idea but lets talk like is a possibility and maybe we can come up with something.

  25. @grimalkina
What you are talking about is CURES for diseases. #bigCorp doesn't want cures, they want treatments. There is more profit in treatments.
Develop a treatment once and profit forever.
Science is providing cures and thus they attack science.

People want cures, that is why bigCorp is killing the democracy, all democracies ; corporate rules not people rules.

    #democracy is more than voting.

  26. @horstworst @fox
I will avoid everything this corp is trying to sell.

"Note: The invited persons do not need a Flow+ subscription."

how nice, but they still are required to allow the bigCorp app behind their firewall on their computer or phone.

they still have theproblem of what happens when their phone dies while on a ride.
and all the other problems that folks have mentioned.

    #bigCorp will kill us all.

  27. Modern day parable about fishing
    🧵 2/2
The #bigCorp want us to do nothing and wait till some magicCorp shows up to sell us a fish.
What you really need is a fishing pole!
FLOSS [Free/Libre Open Source Software] is the fishing pole but you still need to learn how to use it. Nothing is free/gratis!
You won't learn it in a day but you will learn something every day.
