#NowSpinning #Cardinology by #RyanAdams & the Cardinals. I remember being a tad underwhelmed when I first heard this &, whilst it isn’t at the level of, say, Cold Roses or 29, there are some incredible songs, Fix It, Go Easy, Crossed Out Name, & Stop, perhaps his most heartfelt performance.
The artwork is really well done & betters the later ‘logo’ version. There is a smattering of non-fill on side two, but otherwise this sounds incredible.

Peak Adams invariably involves some version of the original Cardinals & this is just a superb album with a vibe which harkens back to his #Whiskeytown days. And, imo, #DearJohn is likely his best song &, thanks to a perfect Norah Jones vocal, his best recorded performance.
Oh, & this pressing is sublime.

At the moment, this is a #vinyl only limited (to 1k copies) release. I’m revisiting Adams’ output after a long hiatus & have been both overwhelmed & underwhelmed by a lot of his recent output & it’s maybe somewhat telling that this live set is skewed heavily towards his early & mid-career output. The material here is strong & immaculately performed.

Band practice was once again postponed. It happened at just about the last minute. One of the guys had a family thing come up and had to take care of it. Unlike Genesis in 1974 our band understands that family comes first and no one said anything that was anything other than 100% supportive. Word on the street was that 1974 era Peter Gabriel was a little jealous.
Next time. We will play all the better next time. Seriously, I’ll have a capo so I can play that friggin’ Bryan Adams song without having to tune my guitar up a full step. Come on, Bryan Adams… a capo? Really? Just play the damn song in E like a real guitarist.
