I’d like to reintroduce myself and introduce my album “A Cufflink-Wearing Guy”.

There are songs about fleeting marketplace romances (Sunflowers), and going in search of your life’s purpose (Desert Rose). There are even more songs — about bad haircuts (West Coast Haircut) and the disappearance of the bees (Honey Bee). The title track follows a pair of cufflinks given to me as a young man and their trajectory through the following decades. All the lyrics are up there so you can read along while listening if that’s your preference.

Back home, finally! They Might Be Giants put on an an excellent show tonight in Indy, glad I was able to go. Their first set featured mostly songs from Lincoln, and the second set was a mix of old and more recent stuff.

2 hour drive each way to and from the venue, though. Still worth it since I've never seen them live before and may never get to again.

Now to spend the rest of the weekend recuperating.

Last summer, I picked up a free CD player (see https://mastodon.social/@GamesMissed/114891936135202833), and it's been in regular use since then. I'm not listening only to CDs, but I listen to three or four albums a week, discs from my old collection.

Until today, when I received a new CD with today's post. My first brand-new album to drop into this player's CD tray.

The liner notes still smell of printer's varnish ...

There is so much distortion on the bass on this new #TMBG record that I honestly thought I had encoded the flacs poorly and screwed up the gain somehow. It's *crunchy*.

I was suspicious of the story in the video about "ampersand" coming from the phrase "and, per se, and" -- it sounds like folk etymology -- but Wikipedia also cites it as the word's origin.
