Lifter Puller has this three-song cycle on their debut album of "Sublet" "Summer House" and "Mission Viejo" that is just incredible, there are other good stuff on that album but those 3 songs is how you know this band was special.

Talked to Craig Finn about "Always Been," his most novelistic album to date, and how the War on Drugs' Adam Granduciel came to produce it.
Also, Cassandra Jenkins told me that if it hadn't been for Finn's generosity and encouragement around the time she was making "An Overview on Phenomenal Nature," she probably would have quit songwriting. So, credit Finn with a moral-support assist on one of the best albums of the 2020s.

The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn Tries to Make Good on New Song ‘People of Substance’
Today’s listening is ‘Thrashing Through The Passion’, the 2019 album by The Hold Steady.
Another rollicking fast-paced rock album from The Hold Steady, with the usual onslaught of bizarre lyrical tales of a world which you feel quite glad not to be a part of!
How the lead singer Craig Finn manages to remember all the song lyrics for their live shows is beyond me!
“Wherever he goes he always orders the usual,
He likes to see what they’ll bring him”

When I posted about the new Hold Steady album, someone responded that Sixers might have the most Craig Finn lyrics of all of Craig Finn’s songs. Don’t recall who said that, but I think I wholeheartedly agree.

Today’s listening is ‘Open Door Policy’, the 2021 album by The Hold Steady.
A collection of mostly fast-paced songs, all having almost ‘spoken word lyrics’ that tell mysterious tales of worlds which you’re probably glad that you don’t live in...
Plus, how can you not like a song that goes by the title ‘Unpleasant Breakfast’?!
‘This coffee’s cold. This toast is gross’…
Very good stuff!
So happy that I can surprise @bright_helpings with things that seem so *him*, like #TheHoldSteady covering #BruceSpringsteen's "Atlantic City" off the "2009 War Child: Heroes" charity album.
A new album from The Hold Steady is coming and here is the teaser track: Sideways Skull
"... she took quick picture but even when we squinted I didn't look so much like Robert Plant..."
