Quella che vi presentiamo oggi, siamo sicuri, è un’applicazione che in molti stavano cercando o aspettando. Floccus vi permetterà di sincronizzare i vostri preferiti su più dispositivi sfruttando Nextcloud, il protocollo WebDAV oppure addirittura Google Drive (anche se noi, come sapete, preferiamo suggerirvi alternative a Google Drive.)
In passato abbiamo già toccato questo argomento ed è anche per questo che sappiamo che interessa a molti. Abbiamo infatti già parlato di xBrowserSync citando anche altre alternative molto interessanti come Raindrop.
Il funzionamento di Floccus è però differente ed è davvero semplice e adatto a molte persone. Per iniziare vi suggeriamo di scaricare l’estensione per il vostro browser oppure l’applicazione per smartphone. Alla prima installazione vi verrà chiesto se avete già un account oppure se volete crearne uno.
Floccus, sincronizza i preferiti su tutti i tuoi dispositivi
Come vi abbiamo già accennato non esistono dei server di Floccus e dunque dovrete sfruttare il vostro server Nextcloud oppure WebDAV. C’è anche Google Drive ma, come detto, lo sconsigliamo. Se invece Nextcloud e WebDav vi sembrano parole difficili vi veniamo subito incontro.
Nextcloud è un’eccellente alternativa a Google Drive. Ne parliamo spesso e gli abbiamo dedicato anche un articolo ad hoc. Potete crearvi un server Nextcloud in autonomia (sconsigliato ai principianti) oppure potete semplicemente acquistare un abbonamento da uno dei tantissimi provider disponibili.
WebDAV è invece un protocollo aperto utilizzato da decine di provider. Per farvi un esempio kDrive, Hetzner, pCloud, Koofr e tantissimi altri gestori permettono di sfruttare questo protocollo. Alcuni, come kDrive, lo permettono solo nella loro versione a pagamento. Qui trovate un nostro articolo con una lista di provider alternativi a Google Drive dove sono segnati anche quelli compatibili con WebDAV.
Questa piccola parentesi serve a farvi capire che Floccus potete utilizzarlo pressoché ovunque, se quindi avete già uno di questi server o abbonamenti allora potrete utilizzare Floccus senza alcuna difficoltà.
Torniamo a noi.
Come funziona
Poniamo il caso che voi vogliate sfruttare il vostro abbonamento su kDrive e utilizzare WebDAV.
Inserite l’URL di WebDAV del vostro provider (per il nostro esempio l’indirizzo è https://connect.kdrive.infomaniak.com/kdrive), il vostro username e la vostra password. Mi raccomando se avete attivato l’autenticazione a due fattori dovete prima creare una password unica per questa applicazione sul vostro profilo kDrive.

Dopo avergli dato l’accesso potrete decidere la posizione dei preferiti e il formato (XBEL o HTML). Potete inoltre decidere di importare i vostri preferiti o sincronizzare le attuali tab attive.
Il passo successivo è decidere l’intervallo di tempo per la sincronizzazione e cosa fare quando esistono delle eventuali incongruenze. Se non sapete quello che fate, lasciate le impostazioni predefinite.
Ora la cartella che avrete selezionato sarà sincronizzata su Floccus.
Se installate l’applicazione su smartphone vi ritroverete i preferiti sincronizzati. Potete usare un altro browser, installare l’estensione adatta, e ritrovarvi tutti i vostri preferiti.
xBrowserSync e Raindrop, le alternative
Esistono due alternative open source a Floccus: xBrowserSync purtroppo, nonostante sia ancora perfettamente funzionante, non sembra più molto aggiornato o mantenuto. Se date infatti un occhio al progetto su GitHub, noterete che gli aggiornamenti mancano da parecchio tempo e lo stesso sviluppatore dice che il progetto non è abbandonato ma semplicemente non riesce più a stargli dietro 1. Il server dunque continua, per ora, a funzionare ma non è detto che sarà così per sempre.
Raindrop è invece un’ottima alternativa ma essendo proprietaria (seppur con le applicazioni open source) semplicemente preferiamo dare priorità a Floccus. Più avanti dunque potremmo parlarne ma per ora ci sembra più interessante parlare di Floccus proprio per il fatto che non dipende da server esterni né da abbonamenti di alcun tipo se non quello che già possedete.

Moving systems and using the fantastic Floccus addon to sync bookmarks between them, but now noticing that Firefox does not allow addons to read bookmark tags.
Refusing to use a Chromium based browser is truly a death by a thousand cuts.

after trying every bookmarktool under the sun... I settled with https://floccus.org just syncing my bookmarks in all different browsers to a nextcloud instance. works well (if you don't use safari) #floccus #nextclud

Is anyone using the #Turnkey #Nextcloud image and using #floccus with Nextcloud #Bookmarks by any chance and have the same freaking issues I have? Getting a ton of error messages like E019: HTTP 500 errors and I can't figure out for the love of everything and everyone what is going on here.
Was looking for an inspiring thought for days now getting stuck at the same search results over and over again.
Using it internally only with no access from the web btw.

Ich möchte hier auf Floccus von @marcelklehr hinweisen.
Floccus synchronisiert Lesezeichen über Anwendungs- und Betriebssystemgrenzen hinweg und steht als Erweiterung für die meisten Browser zur Verfügung.
Praktisch, wenn man sich mal wieder nicht für einen bestimmten Browser entscheiden kann…
