Galloping Goose Water Tank
Trout Lake, ColoradoLocated on the Rio Grande Southern Railroad route from Dolores to Telluride, this water tank served the steam locomotives that originally ran on this narrow gauge railroad.
The expensive to run locomotives were replaced by lightweight "motors" built from automotive bodies for mail runs. These motors were nicknamed Galloping Geese.

Shafer Trail Switchbacks
Canyonlands National Park, UTThis is the way you get down to that road seen in yesterday's photo. You can see that exact road at the left side of this photo. Yes, it's a long way down!
Not everyone likes these steep switchbacks, but the road is well maintained and fairly wide as these things go; plenty of places to pass a vehicle coming in the opposite direction.
I forgot to mention in yesterday's post: this is in the Island in the Sky District of the park.

Shafer Trail and White Rim Trail
Canyonlands National Park, UTThe La Sal Mountains in the far background allow me to apply #MountainMonday
Photo is taken from atop the Shafer Switchbacks. The road below is common to both trails with Shafer branching to the left just before the cut of the deeper canyon in the center of the photo.
You may notice the white sandstone along the right top edge of that canyon—this is the "White Rim" from which the trail takes its name.

Faux #FootpathFriday
Bears Ears National Monument, UTI stopped the truck along White Canyon Road North when I spotted this interesting sight. Flags of thin white sandstone have broken off from the rim and migrated down this shallow wash to give the appearance of stepping stones up the hillside. I didn't climb up as they looked fragile.

Apple Lisa, MacIntosh, and a box
Computer History Museum
Mountain View, CAA #ThrowbackThursday in honor of Apple's 50th anniversary.
At right a Lisa, in the middle the MacIntosh, and then some sort of ugly box 😉 Monitors above (somewhat cut off) display typical OS screens.
