  1. East Fork Jemez River Early Autumn
    Santa Fe National Forest, NM

Reprocessed in #AffinitySuite from RAW file to exported jpg. Even with as little time as I spent on the photo I feel this image has more depth, color, and texture than my previous effort.*

I've been using this new app for 3 days now. It is basically Canva's original photo, vector, and layout apps combined into one integrated suite and is "totally free."** I am very impressed. It is a joy to use. I was able to get great results right away. It is fast and responsive. Professional grade.

*If you want to compare, this is the original #landscape image I posted:

**you do need to provide a valid email address to download. You have to pay for a Premium subscription to use their AI tools, but reviewers are not impressed with those; one calling them "shit." This is not open-source. A large corporation hopes to lure you to their paid plan, but it's a gift as is.

  4. Ponderosa Pines
    Jemez Mountains in New Mexico

Three mature Ponderosa pine trees stand tall in a grassy clearing. The tallest, I guesstimate, over 120 feet high, the two others 80-100 feet.

These old growth trees were off NF-100 on the north side of Valles Caldera. I saw elk when driving up to there.

From my blog post which has photos of lots of critters, flowers, dragonflies, and beautiful scenery: bosquebill.blogspot.com/2013/0

  5. Valley of the Gods in the morning light with bonus moon.

This aerial photo shows a few of the sandstone towers and cliffs that make this area so very special. Located in SE Utah and administered by the Bureau of Land Management, there is no fee for entrance or camping. You can see my pickup camper in the bottom third of the photo.

  6. Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly National Monument, AZ

There were many small, heavy clouds moving across the sky casting shadows into the canyon. I decided to post process the photo using the Orton Effect to contrast the soft and hard portions of the image.

  7. Not only is it a thick trunk, it is very dense, as well... quartz, in fact. Notice the hundreds of similar petrified logs strewn across the hills.

Early morning light shines across the Crystal Forest Trail in Petrified Forest National Park.

  10. Rocky Mountain Elk
    San Juan National Forest, CO

First photo processed from last week's camping trip. Not super dynamic, but was fun to see this small herd. They were way far away so this is a heavily cropped image from a 420mm lens.

  15. Galloping Goose Water Tank
    Trout Lake, Colorado

Located on the Rio Grande Southern Railroad route from Dolores to Telluride, this water tank served the steam locomotives that originally ran on this narrow gauge railroad.

The expensive to run locomotives were replaced by lightweight "motors" built from automotive bodies for mail runs. These motors were nicknamed Galloping Geese.
