I love NYC so much it almost hurts. Those textures, the history in those fading painted signs, the silhouettes of the rooftops and water towers. Damn. #BelieveInFilm #35mmLoveLetter #WaterTowerWednesday

Chicago, 1939. Continuing yesterday's #watertowerwednesday into #throwbackthursday, this photo comes from UIC Library. http://bit.ly/3GnBqUU

The photographer is unknown and the location is also not noted. Does anyone recognize where this is?

I know #waterfallwednesday is popular on Mastodon but I propose a variation for us urban explorers: #watertowerwednesday, in appreciation of our disappearing water towers. These two photos are from Chicago's Bridgeport and River West areas. https://flic.kr/p/28JELP1

Galloping Goose Water Tank
Trout Lake, Colorado

Located on the Rio Grande Southern Railroad route from Dolores to Telluride, this water tank served the steam locomotives that originally ran on this narrow gauge railroad.

The expensive to run locomotives were replaced by lightweight "motors" built from automotive bodies for mail runs. These motors were nicknamed Galloping Geese.

Y'all, we need to talk about #WaterfallWednesday -

As in, we don't HAVE waterfalls here in #NYC #Manhattan .

So I give you instead water TOWER Wednesday, because it's not only topically water-adjacent, but we have plenty of those to spare.
