Bus strikes across South West Wales come to an end after deal agreed
The company announced this week that a revised pay offer has been accepted by staff, lifting the threat of further walkouts and restoring certainty for passengers.
Agreement brings relief after months of disruption
Industrial action by Unite members had caused widespread disruption to services in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, Llanelli and beyond, with strikes stretching into the autumn and winter.
Several rounds of negotiations saw offers rejected, strikes postponed, and services repeatedly thrown into doubt. At one stage, Unite confirmed action would continue into January, escalating concerns for commuters and local councils.
The breakthrough came after First Cymru tabled an improved offer, which has now been accepted.
First Cymru statement
Doug Claringbold, Managing Director of First Bus Cymru, said:
“We are pleased that the revised offer has been accepted by colleagues and that the threat of further strike action has been lifted. This agreement provides certainty for our teams and our customers, and enables us to move forward together.
“Our priority now is to restore confidence and deliver the reliable, consistent services that our communities depend on every day. We want to thank our customers for their patience during this period of uncertainty, and we look forward to welcoming back anyone who may have been affected by the recent disruption.”
Looking ahead
The end of the strikes will be welcomed by thousands of passengers who rely on First Cymru buses daily for work, school and essential travel. Local leaders, including Neath Port Talbot Council, had previously voiced concern about the impact of prolonged disruption on communities and businesses.
With the agreement now in place, attention turns to rebuilding trust and ensuring services run smoothly through the busy winter period.

Claudia made her debut on May 23, 2011 in *Cloud Girl – Windows, Clouds and Blue Sky* (クラウド ガール -窓と雲と碧い空-), a webcomic released by Microsoft Japan to introduce and explain cloud technology. She was designed by Wakaba, the same artist behind Nanami Madobe. Though she is not an OS some people may group her with them anyway.
Claudia is an experienced Windows Azure developer with a master’s degree in engineering and over two years of practical development experience.
She excels in cloud computing and can sometimes come across as a little superior to beginners, but she’s always willing to teach and share her expertise. She often collaborates with her Madobe cousins, Nanami, Yū, and Ai in promotional events and campaigns as well as with her colleague, Ruri Azumi and is voiced by Eri Kitamura.

Daughter was watching an episode of "That Girl" (1966) today, which happened to feature Sterling Holloway in a small part.
You don't see him much on screen, because his fame is for voice-acting: he voiced Winnie-the-Pooh and the Cheshire Cat, among other memorable roles in Disney films. So much easier to recognize him if I shut my eyes! A very charming voice.
Perhaps ironically for a guy famous for talkies, he was playing a silent-film-era organist.

Played 3 hours of "MOUSE P.I." so far.
It's fun, don't know if we needed another game voiced by Troy Baker instead of new, unknown talents, but he does a good job, and so do the other voice actors. The gameplay is fun so far, but quite easy, enemy waves are short, which is fine by me, but not as action-filled as, for example, the new Doom games.
The artstyle and animations are, as expected, really great.
The Micer (Mauser) pistol has a magazine instead of top-loading and the Tommy...I mean, "James Gun" has the typical drum magazines, but instead of 100 they only contain 30 bullets, which was not what this magazine type was built for, but hey, I can accept that. 😁
That acid gun is fun, but totally overpowered.
AND of course I love mechanic mice, as usual. ❤️
