Members include New York Rep. #AlexandriaOcasioCortez, New York City Mayor #ZohranMamdani and Michigan Rep. #RashidaTlaib, all Democrats. Three Democratic nominees for U.S. House of Representative seats – #DarializaAvilaChevalier and #ClaireValdez in New York and #MelatKiros in Colorado – also belong to the group, as do a growing list of state and local officials.
"A third of #Democrats identify as democratic socialists, according to a July 30 CNN poll, but it's possible that quite a few of those are not familiar with some of the DSA's more unusual suggestions for overhauling the U.S. government. A July 28 Reuters/Ipsos poll revealed that 47% of Americans say they don't understand democratic socialist policies.
