A few weeks in with the new 10TB WD Red Plus drive in my Jellyfin machine — and what a difference!

Moved off a slow (dying) external USB, and now streaming is smooth, even at high bitrates. Skipping through 4K content is instant, and library scans don’t lag anymore.

Sometimes all it takes is one well-picked drive. Happy with the upgrade so far 😊

Migrating from a dying 4.5TB external drive to a fresh WD Red Plus 10TB. The old drive was crawling at 322 KB/s with I/O errors, so I made the tough call to abandon the 162-day rescue mission.

Cleaned up the case, installed the new drive, and rescued music from a working drive.

Rebuilding my entire library from scratch - downloaded 70 out of 700 movies. Sometimes hw failure forces the upgrade you needed anyway.

Yeah this #HDD is done. Thought WD Red was supposed to be durable for NAS usage? Almost 5 years of usage, but still.

Yep, up until today #WDred were always my first choice for a #NAS, but I guess I'm not going to buy #WesternDigital anymore.
With only #Seagate and #Toshiba left, unfortunately there aren’t many alternatives left.

Heute relativ entspannt und unkompliziert die vier Consumer-SSDs aus dem #HomeLab entfernt und dafür vier #WDRed SSDs eingebaut, mit #ZFS Mirror konfigu… wollte ich gerade schreiben, da bricht die Faulted-Hölle während des “Move Storage” aus. 🙄😔

That feeling when you get what appears to be a decent second hand Hard Drive to replace a failing one in your #NAS only to find that the #SMART test sticks at 90% and does not complete...

The extended S.M.A.R.T. test never finished on the "failing" #WDRed 4TB drive in the Synology. I've substituted the 8TB, RAID consistency has been restored, and the test is now re-running using WD Data LifeGuard. We're 3 hours into an ~8 hour test, now.
