Edited my original post because I didn't want it sound like an ad but this is my experience with 2TB external #WesternDigital Element HDDs. The last ones I bought before moving on to using SSDs are 4TB ones so these failing now are pretty old.

Mai 2021 dann 214€ für eine #Seagate IronWolf Pro 6 TB, als meine erste WD den Geist aufgab. Dafür hatte ich dann die Ersatz-WD wegen Garantiefall.
Die musste ich ja jetzt einsetzen.
Natürlich kostet jetzt, Juni 2026, eine 6 TB WD RED Plus 260€ und die IronWolf 6 TB 230€.
Das nenn ich mal wertstabil...

I found an old WD NAS buried in all my computer parts clutter in the basement. I had completely forgotten about it after switching to the great uGreen NAS.
With 2x 4 TB WD Red drives, this WD NAS will now serve as my personal cloud at home, while the uGreen NAS will no longer function as a cloud solution connecting my smartphones and computers on the go, but rather as pure file and document storage on the internal network. So I’m splitting these functions between two NAS devices.
I’d been thinking about this for a while, and I was even planning to spend a lot of money on another uGreen NAS... but with today’s storage prices, that’s a massive expense that needs careful consideration—and thank goodness I took my time with it until I made this discovery today.

Dow, LyondellBasell Industries — Downgrades by Bank of America to underperform from neutral on both companies sent their stocks lower. I have used WD drives for years and even went through their warranty service before with no issues.
This may all change now.
I shipped them a drive about 2 months ago and am still struggling to get a replacement for my home server. Looks like they have given EVERYTHING to AI and can’t even fulfill the warranty.
Need to find a 8TB drive now myself as I can’t rely on them.
This is not good.
