An important film to see as a child, teaches you about Nature, Death, Authoritarianism and the yearning to find a new place to call Home.

  4. Not hearing nations' leaders invoking an "international rules based order".

There are three superpowers that have no need of IRBO.

Every other nation is either a vassal state to a superpower or dependent on IRBO.

The silence about IRBO tells me they know that Trump is running amok and that hiding in the briar patch is the safest strategy.

  11. Finally finished reading #WatershipDown .
I have a lot of feelings about it, will try to write a proper "review" later.
For now I'll just say it's one of the best novels I've read.

  13. I love the world building in #WatershipDown. The mythology, the language - it's all great. And I'm impressed by how much made it into the movie.

  14. Rewatching #WatershipDown and working on my #Fallout one-shot for MEPACon.

I'm not sure how the opening field-of-blood scene didn't scare the crap out of me as a kid. Maybe it did, and I don't recall; I just remember being utterly enthralled by the movie and then the book.

  15. LadyFiszi's "Frith and Inlé"

I very much love this represenation of Lord Frith and The Black Rabbit of Inlé done in the style of the symbolic Taijitu.

I'm not sure how accurate the symbolism would actually be, as I've never interpreted the Black Rabbit as a balance force to Frith, but I like it nonetheless. The Black Rabbit is a servant of Frith so it doesn't quite work.

  21. Two of my favorite characters in fictions.

Hazel-Rah being my 2nd all-time favorite fictional character and this litter mate brother Fiver.

I'm due for a reread of Watership Down soon, but I'll have to get a new copy as I gave mine away to a Cousinling.

Perhaps I'll seek out a first print hardcover for my library.

  22. @spacemagick True of our arithmetic.

In Lapine speakers' arithmetic, cardinal numbers 1 to 4 appear to have been defined through a bijection with rabbit legs. Beyond that is the point at infinity. This is why the runt with Spidey-sense in #WatershipDown is named "Fiver". He probably had more than four littermates, but "five", "thousand", and "countless" are all synonyms in #LapineLanguage.

  23. Lapine (the language of indigenous rabbits of Hampshire in the novel Watership Down) has no numbers past four. They have words for one, two, three, and four, and then "hrair" meaning "uncountably many".

Yet people say rabbits are good at multiplying. I get it, but I don't get it.

#watershipdown #mastofilms
