@normalmode I used #Vimium for something like a year, then switched to Vimium‐C for perhaps another year or two. A few months ago I tried out #Tridactyl, and have been using it since.
They're similar in more ways than they're different, but with Tridactyl there seems to be a lot more customisability than is offered in Vimium‐C, plus it has a substantially greater catalogue of features to play with – not to mention that there are some big updates on the way (https://github.com/tridactyl/tridactyl/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md#release-1250--unreleased).
In general, I get the sense from Tridactyl that it's a bit more ‘rough around the edges’. For example, on a lot of sites with a pop‐up asking for your cookie preferences, Tridactyl doesn't seem capable of interacting with the page until the cookie dialogue is manually closed. Whereas in all the time that I used Vimium and Vimium‐C, I never had that problem.
Then again, Tridactyl seems to be a bit snappier, especially on startup. Overall, Tridactly is more complete, customisable, and is being actively improved. Using it feels slightly like a compromise, where you're losing some polish for a richer set of features. This is worthwhile for me, and I'm sure it will be more polished over time.
The biggest praise I can give to Vimium‐C is that its default bindings are very sensible. For example, looking through your bookmarks is as easy as ‘b’ or ‘B’ (for new tab). Looking through your tabs is ‘t’. ‘yi’ to copy an image. And many more... Also, it seems to be a bit easier to configure custom search engine aliases in Vimium‐C than in Tridactyl, though both support this feature.

@sporkl I very much sympathise with the desire to use #vim for everything. I've been using #vimium for a few years now, and have long sought to use vim as a text editor in whatever context. I have yet the unfulfilled desire to make arbitrary text entry on the web automatically bring up an instance of vim (such as in this post I'm writing) but have not made the adequate effort to find or create such a solution. All this is to say that I think I will seriously consider the use of vim as a terminal emulator in future. Thank you for sharing!

I'm using Vimium in Firefow more and more. But now I have a problem because I would like to be able to navigate in the same way in all my system an apps.

Exactly what I was looking for. Was already thinking about developing a plugin to let me operate #SAP S/4HANA #Fiori UI with the keyboard. But #vimium ist more or less exactly what I had in mind.

But do you use vim bindings for any other software other than editors?I use a lot of vim bindings out of my editor. In pdf reader ( #zathura ), browser ( #qutebrowser , #vimium ) music player, etc.
I’m afraid if that will conflict with Kokoune.And are there Kokoune bindings for popular softwares?

Because I use #Vimium to navigate the web, I've been able to set the '-ai' flag automatically on any search I make using #Google, removing the awful 'AI Overview.' As for #DuckDuckGo, thankfully there is an actual setting you can use to turn off the #AI overview.

Having used #Vimium for a few months now really makes me appreciate #web browsers *not* being just glorified VNC clients that only know how to push pixels with WebGPU and run WASM.

While #browsing with my keyboard (using #vimium) my `j` and `k` shortcut keys are misbehaving (switching tabs instead of scrolling down/up)...
Frustraited but determined, I open a new tab in order to troubleshoot and
search for *why* this is happening.
After no more than three keystrokes I find the
answer of *WHY* this is happening.Darn #capsLock!

Petite question "avancée" pour celleux qui utilisent #Vimium ou équivalent pour piloter #Firefox au clavier.
Il m'arrive régulièrement de devoir lâcher le clavier pour saisir la souris et cliquer dans la page, pour que celle-ci ait le focus, afin que Vimium soit actif. Sans cela, le focus est dans la barre d'URL.
Quelle stratégie pour éviter ça ? Ou a minima, un raccourci clavier pour donner le focus à la page web ? (à part appuyer plein de fois sur "Tab", je vois pas 🫤)

@edfattell If you haven't tried the #vimium browser extension yet, you are in for a treat. It literally revolutionized how I browse around the Web. A tiling window manager (like i3wm) also pairs nicely with them 😉
