I spent the whole afternoon playing with the video editor in Blender in conjunction to the Compositor (v5.2/3). The whole thing is poorly thought out, feels like a hack.

I believe that the video editing part needs to be a separate app, refactored to work as expected. And no, this is not a matter of "blender doing things differently", this is a matter of not working as it should be. Too many issues to count. Right down to the most basic things.

To them, each new slide layout is a completely new deliverable — it really struggles just making matching sets of slides, as this OpenAI demo reveals.

Lightworks: OpenGL bug, developers have been ignoring me for 1,5 years now, restart rate approx. at 1 restart / minute.. Davinci Resolve: White flashes as soon as I turn on any processing nodes, the free version can't decode h264.

Blender: Not playing back my footage. Kdenlive, Openshot: Not playing back my footage, also way too limited.

Just noticed that #Shotcut overlays a progress bar for any ongoing render jobs to its icon on your taskbar. I'm using Gnome on Debian with the "Dash to Dock" extension and it still works just fine.

Hermes Agent can be RIDICULOUSLY helpful in video post. I can, for example, give it a Word file with new voiceovers and say "create voiceovers from green sentences, save as VO - <#> - <few first words>.wav".

Boom, temp VOs done in a minute, locally, for free (using Omnivoice as a TTS).

That would take hours to do, and require manual renaming.

After some years of using #Lightworks for professional #video, I'm trying to learn #DaVinciResolve now.

Feeling like a complete idiot. I just want to align audio from my recorder with the video and cut the ends. I know none of the keyboard shortcuts and nothing is obvious. I know what I want to do, but I don't know where the menu items are. (ChatGPT doesn't know either, btw. – funny they try to charge money for it.)

I love Lightworks. Yet it has a nasty OpenGL bug that apparently only shows on my #UbuntuStudio #Linux machine and I have tried to communicate with developers for 1.5 years or so about this. I simply can't work with it any more. They apparently don't care.

I even own a Lightworks keyboard. Sad situation. I'm not ready for the change. It could be so easy…
