Don’t have anything homelab-related to share, so have my attempt at travel blogging.

Despite trying to have the most chilled #vacation ever, we were driving around #Zakarpattia yesterday. Still, the trip was as chill as we could make it so. We visited a couple of places, took some walks, and had some lunch in #Uzhhorod.

Civilisation is often defined by what it chooses not to let disappear. At #Uzhhorod National #University, scientists have built a #biobank that advances #genomics and type 1 #diabetes #research, even as #war continues. It already supports #international research and teaching, and aims to represent the #genetic #diversity of #Ukraine where there was once a blank space on the map. But biology is unforgiving. Without reliable #electricity, years of work and thousands of samples simply thaw into loss. A large backup battery can keep this knowledge alive.

#Ukraine will not extend its gas transit agreement with #Russia after it expires at the end of 2024, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys #Shmyhal told Slovak Prime Minister Robert #Fico on Monday.

I’m learning from the New York Times that the Kyiv Biennal (“an international forum for art, knowledge, and politics”) is also taking place near my home in Antwerp.

“The fifth edition of the Kyiv Biennial will take place across Europe at locations in Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Uzhhorod, Berlin, Warsaw, Lublin, Antwerp and Vienna as the main exhibition venue.”

The #Lviv 🇺🇦 to #Uzhhorod line through the #Beskydy mountains is truly one of #Europe‘s most beautiful and spectacular railways. The line development includes a wide, s-shaped bend as the line descends, reminding me of some Alpine railways. 3/3
