Ordenando los trastos viejos, aparecen reliquias... acá el CD de drivers de mi modem USRobotics 56k interno... y sí, en su momento lo instalaba en Windows 95 😅
Pensar que en esa época (finales de los '90), 56kbps era casi la velocidad de la luz en conexión a Internet 😆
BTW, debo tener el modem guardado por ahí, luego lo busco.
¿Alguien más siente nostalgia por los ruiditos que hacía el modem al conectar? 💬

The "bag o' RAM" is not the only thing I brought home. An old #usrobotics 14.4 fax/modem was found, plus another no-name modem. I'm contemplating the idea of emptying one of the two and build a ZiModem custom board for it.
I guess the us robotics one would be the most widespread candidate.Oh... And I also found my uthernet II card for Apple2. Searched months for it.
It's still being sold, right? Because I'd really like to rebuild the schematics for it.
EDIT: Just for future reference, no need to rebuild anything. You can find the schematic for the Uthernet II in the card's manual

From Internet Old Farts Club on FB: "Pat Chicas - Bringing Internet to the Island of Molokai. Prolly 1995. This was our Hawaii Online pop in the back of a record store in Kaunakakai. 256kb frame relay to our main POP and ASN in Honolulu. 6 USR modems in 2 different rotary hunt groups on an old AE SxS switch. There were a few dozen people waiting outside and in the store for me to complete my work and give them the OK to log on. Very good, fulfilling and proud times."
I remain eternally grateful to @megazone for the wonderful accompanying documentation whose diagrams helped me understand TCP/IP + Ethernet networking and led to my career.

Back in the days i got ein US Import of an USR #Courier HST #modem with the properitary 9600 HST Protocoll.
Comming from 1200/Baud it was like inhaling the future ...
MyF 1st Highspeed Connection was to an #alphaflight BBS called #Airport
so trading & releasing #Warez began ;)
It was a beast of a Modem and for me it was a mirical, when US Robotics released later ein #firmware Update for 14.4 and later 16.8 kbit/s

As you know, I am doing a cleanup. Even so it isn't #CleanUpMonday today.
Found the PalmPilot just in time for a (2*AAA) battery swap. The last apparently was 15th of June 2008. Which meant, a complete data loss. History repeats itself and I will never learn it seems.

Fueron líderes en la telecomunicaciones. Compraron a #USRobotics, otro grande, sobre todo en época de módems, y a #Palm (los primeros #PDA y abuelos de los #smartphones). Finalmente fue adquirida por #HP y quedaron en el olvido. -

And I seriously doubt that that modem will work on VoIP lines…What a remembrance, by the way!
