On Friday Disney+ released the documentary Jim Henson: Idea Man directed by Ron Howard and it is fantastic. It goes into his early years his relationships to his beginnings in television to all the heights of his career and artistic achievements. With interviews with his friends and family as well as archival footage.
It is so well done, you come away feeling like you really got to know the man. I’ve always loved Jim Hensons work. He’s inspired me so much over the years. They’ve done such a wonderful job with this documentary, and I agree with Orson Welles (a clip from Welles’ talk show is used where he’s about to interview Jim Henson and Frank Oz)
and say Jim Henson was a genius.

Hey folks this week I finally caught up with a brilliant superhero film, listened to lots of music and thought what if the shark in Jaws had worked?
This past week I FINALLY saw Blue Beetle and folks, I flipping loved it! A really excellent film. I loved every second of it. There’s a lot of super hero films out there some better than others but this is easily in the top 10 of all time. I mean forget super hero films this is just a great film. Well worth checking out.
Patrick (H) Williems is back with another great video looking into the production of Jaws and coming up with some really interesting ideas, We’ve all heard the stories of how during the production the shark prop didn’t work and they had to work around it but the fact the shark didn’t work made the film much better. But what if it had what would the film landscape look like today?
St. Vincent is back with another single Big Time Nothing. I love St. Vincent and cannot wait for this album!
I’ve been listening to a lot of T-Square (or the different variations in name over the years) and Japanese jazz fusion in general lately. It’s been perfect for those sunnier spring days (although those have been fairly scarce lately)

George Mouse, wildlife photographer Simon Dell has a beautiful garden and in his garden lives George mouse and his little friends. lots of miniature buildings for George and his friends to explore. A VERY cute channel.

Hi folks I’ve got a mix of YouTube and long running radio dramas to talk about this week.
Orville Peck & Willie Nelson – Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other a beautiful song by two greats here. Wonderful to hear Orville Peck and Willie Nelson together in a song and with such a beautiful message too.
Wheelie Yellow a little fellow in a van, I found this on Instagram then saw they had a YouTube channel. Really wonderful videos really well shot and great fun.
The Archers the long running rural soap opera that has aired on BBC radio since 1950. Airs daily expect for Saturday. It lets us in on the lives of a community in the English countryside. I’d heard about it for years and finally stated listening last year and quickly fell in love. I don’t think I’ve missed an episode, it helps that it’s published as a podcast. Great to pop on after a long day. I’m not really a soap guy but this I love.

During breakfast Will and George chat about Ed and Emma’s meeting with Jamie Perks. George says Will should concentrate on strategy rather than the day-to-day work. He pontificates about what he’s learned on his business course about thinking big – and how a firm’s name should reflect that. Susan arrives to edit her shop testimonial videos with George, but he says they are unusable.Fallon tells Eddie that she has a staffing problem: Emma’s away so she’s on her own in the tea room. But Eddie has an idea. Fallon calls George and he says he’ll get there as fast as he can, much to Susan’s annoyance. George tells her she’d be better off scrapping her videos and starting again. At the tea room, he couldn’t be more helpful. Fallon says he’ll soon be too successful to wait tables. He tells her he wants to earn enough money to make life easy for his family. Before he goes, she asks if he'll clear the air with Jolene. He agrees to pop in to The Bull on his way home. He suggests he could come back to help again when Emma is away on her course but Fallon needs to find someone full time.Will and Eddie are working on a patio, with the younger Grundy doing most of the grafting. Eddie is thinking about Bartleby’s next video, with Justin Elliott as the intended target. Nanalan’ you’ve seen the memes now see the original epsidoes. here’s where that cute song “who’s that wonderful girl” and it’s ok birdy comes from Nanalan’ was a TV show. A very cute show about a little girl, her grandmother and their dog Russell and the adventures they have in her grandmothers back yard.
Curious Archive is a brilliant Youtube channel where they talk about works of literature, speculative fiction works where the writers consider what life and origins are for creatures on other worlds and ones here on earth. As well as that the fictional worlds creatures have built in fiction.

Hey folks! So like everyone else I too have been loving Beyoncé’s new album Cowboy Carter so no surprises in seeing that album in this list. But as well as that I’ve been catching up with some films and going back and enjoying some older music too!
LOVED all of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter! Loved the mixing of music genres as well as covers of classic songs I mean it’s just a brilliant album all round with intros from lots of amazing people to collaborations with lots of amazing people! I just
loved this album top to bottom.TWRP‘s new album Digital Nightmare I was very excited for this album and as always those folks from Canada didn’t let me down. Love TWRP for a long time now and I’ve had some of their music on one of these lists before. With a funk retro future vibe always. I love this band and this album is just amazing.
Nope 2022: I finally saw this in the last week! I know! I mean it’s as great as everyone says, I won’t give anything away here but it’s tense and terrifying, what you’d expect from a Jordon Peele film at this stage. Beautiful cinematography mixed with haunting imagery really is a must for horror fans. Nope is rated 16.
Shin Ultraman: another films I’ve been wanting to see for ages! I loved this, I just thought it was wonderful, it’s of course Ultraman who’s appeared in films and tv shows since the 60’s but you don’t have to have seen any of those before you watch this (which I’m glad of because I’ve only seen bits and pieces). Now the plot is interesting, giant creatures are attacking Japan and one day Ultraman appears, a giant silver hero. Who can more than handily take on these monsters. The films is episodic which I’ve read some reviews say they didn’t like but I enjoyed it. Shin Ultraman is rated PG
and lastly every now and then you’ve gotta listen to some Phil Collins, Phil Collins- In the Air Tonight I saw a video the other day talking about Miami Vice and that scene with this song.

I loved this, I just thought it was wonderful, it’s of course Ultraman who’s appeared in films and tv shows since the 60’s but you don’t have to have seen any of those before you watch this (which I’m glad of because I’ve only seen bits and pieces). Now the plot is interesting, giant creatures are attacking Japan and one day Ultraman appears, a giant silver hero. Who can more than handily take on these monsters. The films is episodic which I’ve read some reviews say they didn’t like but I enjoyed it. Shin Ultraman is rated PG
and lastly every now and then you’ve gotta listen to some Phil Collins, Phil Collins- In the Air Tonight I saw a video the other day talking about Miami Vice and that scene with this song.

Hey folks this week I have been watching a continuation of a classic 90’s tv series, listening to some favorites and picking up a game again.
X-Men 97: I’ll be honest folks when I heard about this originally I was very sceptical. It’s very rare something is able to recapture what made something special originally. But this totally does! I was blown away by the three episodes that have been released. The original series was of course a classic an adaptation of the iconic comic books and this it looks like it’s the next season dealing with the same kinds of topics as the original. If you’ve never seen the original don’t worry you can just hop in. But I totally recommend you go and watch the original series too as it’s steller.
Stardew Vally: I’ve been playing stardew vally again recently, if you’ve never picked it up before you’re character moves to a new town moving into a farm left to them by their grandfather. There you plant seeds and take care of animals. You start with nothing and build your way up. But this is only part of the game. The rest is getting to know the people of the town. Making friends and maybe even finding love. A great game that’s had a lot of updates over the years and is available on loads of platforms.
I’ve been listening to They Might Be Giants a band I’ve loved for ages. I really love this one Bird House in Your Soul. They Might Be Giants are a wonderful band I mean anytime I listen to any of their music I’m singing their songs in my head for days after. I’ve got bird house in my soul going around in my head right now as I speak. I don’t think I’ve ever heard one of their songs I don’t like.

Hey folks each week I give you a little list of things I’ve been loving in the past week. This time I’ve got a mix of films, music and doctor who.
Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa 2013: I cannot believe I haven’t seen this before now. I LOVE Alan Partridge so the fact I missed this is really weird. Anyway I saw it and like anything with Alan Partridge or anything with Steve Coogan it’s brilliant! If you didn’t know Alan Partridge is a character Steve Coogan has plaid for a long time. A character who began life on BBC Radio 4 and went on to appear in tv shows, books, podcasts and a film! You don’t need to know all the rest before watching this though. But you will want to I’m sure after seeing him in this. A really interesting creation.
Josh Snares has a brilliant YouTube channel where they have videos on Doctor Who (which if you know me you know I’m a big fan of) Josh’s videos are brilliant with a mix of documentaries and reviews. It’s well worth your time checking out their videos. They have a great series on the lost episodes of doctor who, and lost media is something I’m passionate about.
Folks I have some shocking news. Llamas with Hats is 15 years old. Yep I don’t know how it happened either but here we are. By FilmCow the people behind another internet classic, Charlie the Unicorn. Llamas with hats is dark and hilarious. Go watch any FilmCow animations their all really funny but I should stress not for everyone as I say they are often dark (but really funny) as you will see in the first few seconds of the first Llamas with Hats video.
The Warning – S!CK popped up in my recommended this week. A rock band from Mexico. Love what I’ve heard so far!
PiDog and Pilot: saw this video the other day, a great robotic dog has an encounter with an equally great Chihuahua.
and speaking of robots here’s a great video by the YouTube channel Back In The Day all about The history of Robot Wars a great tv show from the late 90’s early 00’s. They also have videos on the Crystal Maze and Nightmare.

Gossip- Real Power: Gossip are back with new music! This is the second single from their upcoming album with the first being released back in November. I cannot believe Gossip are back! I love this band and had made my peace with the fact that they just weren’t going to be putting out anymore music. How glad was I to be proven wrong! And back with some great music! Cannot wait to hear the album!

Jodorowsky’s Dune (2014) a documentary on a film that was never made. By director Alejandro Jodorowsky. An incredible story of a truly visionary directors take on an iconic book. The book Dune which of course has now been adapted once by David Lynch and then again more recently by Denis Villeneuve with a squeal coming this year. Jodorowsky’s Dune is a fascinating documentary because not only to hear his take on the source but the people he had assembled to make it.
Cheesy Studios is a YouTube channel where they build brilliant dioramas as well as take a look back at a Lego series.
North Of The Boarder is another YouTube channel featuring a very creative individual. Amazingly detailed clay sculptures. Often funny, sometimes creepy, always stunning.
Beyoncé-16 carriages: You may have heard Beyoncé has new music out. Country music to be specific and surprise surprise it’s only brilliant. Love this one a lot, 16 carriages. I’d be really interested in if she’s going to release a full with music like this.
And lastly King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard – Motor Sprit:
I love the album PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation (phew) Another metal album from the Australian band. I love all of their work to date (I was doing a listen from the very start of their discography and there’s a lot!) Motor Spirit is a great opening to the album and I love the contrast from this album to their latest which is more electronic synth based. But here it’s guitars and metal, with an album with environmental themes the band has touched on before.That’s is for this week folks. I am back folks with some more stuff I’ve been loving this week. You know I never really know what to write here at the start. Maybe a quick summery, OK.
This week I’ve been enjoying documentaries, music and comics! here’s some of my favorites for you to check out this week.
In The Court Of The Crimson King a documentary about the band King Crimson their history and the relationship of members past and present. A really interesting look into this iconic band. Well worth a watch even if you’ve never heard their music.
Arena 1988: The Beano and The Dandy. a great documentary on the history (up to the point of it’s release in 1988) of classic UK comics The Beano and the Dandy
St Vincent – No Where In from the album from St Vincent. Loved this whole album.
Dua Lipa – Houdini Named of course after the famous escape artist and illusionist. Loved this track and the Adam Port mix version.
Crumbling Castle – King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard I’ve been listening to every King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard album from the start and I’m just after finishing Polygondwanaland which starts with the 10 minute long Crumbling Castle. I’m 13 albums deep in this band now and I am loving every single one so far. Onto Gumboot Soup next!
The comic strip Mutts by Patrick McDonnell, late last year I finally started reading Mutts, I’d seen bits and pieces over the years of course but in Autumn I started reading it daily and I’m so glad! it’s such a sweet heartfelt and funny comic. you can read more of this comic for yourself over at Mutts.com or on the Mutts Instagram page. personally I get the comic sent to my email which is an option over on the site and I recommend it.
