Following Moroccan troll advice on #GretaThunberg social media posts about #WesternSahara (sadly off Mastodon) to "do your research", I did mine & now know:
1) the #UN does not recognise #Morocco's sovereignty over Western Sahara;
2) 47 countries and the #AfricanUnion recognise The #Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR);
3) the only countries to recognise Morocco's rights over Western Sahara are the US... and Israel.

The #Sahrawi people live in refugee camps near Tindouf, Algeria, managed by the Polisario Front, which aims to liberate #WesternSahara from Moroccan occupation.

This is a well-organized society, despite harsh conditions. The camps are named after Western Saharan cities, symbolizing their hope of returning home. Their cause is promoted through initiatives like the FiSahara film festival, seeking international support for independence.
