  1. A lone adventurer walks the stony shore of Ruby Beach, dwarfed by towering sea stacks that rise from the surf like ancient guardians of the Pacific. The distant cliff, robed in coastal evergreens, holds the memory of wind and wave in every crevice. It’s a moment suspended in wild majesty where land, sea, and sky converge

  2. I spent Memorial Day weekend camping at the beach with a couple of friends, on Washington state’s Olympic Peninsula. We were fortunate to have had fantastic weather the first two days (never a guarantee here this time of year), and I had a great time shooting while we explored the area.

We went up to Kalaloch Beach to see the Tree of Life, and also hit Ruby Beach at sunset. The air at Ruby Beach was filled with mist from the crashing waves, lit golden by the sun. One of the sea stacks had a hole in it, through with the sunlight was positively streaming, and the shot I got of it is now up in my store as Poseidon’s Door.

I also turned my lens on smaller things I found lying in the sand, and got a long exposure night shot to round things out.

I hope your Memorial Day weekend was equally pleasant!
