  3. #ForestFriday is here! So, one of my favourites (even included it in my calendar) - Fledgling, named due to the cute size of this mossy stump that appears to be protected by the large Vine Maple.

What a gift to have stunning places like this to explore (carefully too, don't ruin the moss people!)

  8. 2010 - Sol Duc Waterfall - Olympic National Park.
After all the autumn rain, the falls were roaring.
Hard not to stop, set the tripod, and play with shutter speed and composition.

  9. Approaching the Summit Hurricane Ridge Olympic National Park Washington

As we near the highest point of our hike along Hurricane Ridge, the landscape opens up in a breathtaking panorama of layered blue mountains, stretching as far as the eye can see.

  10. Extreme heat launched the Bear Gulch Fire across 2,000 additional acres of forest on Tuesday and Wednesday, pouring thick smoke on the Hood Canal communities of Hoodsport and Skokomish, Washington.

  11. The Hoh Rain Forest of Olympic National Park becomes a patient guide for me in this second-person meditation. It is a moss-embroidered forest of wisdom, lined with ferns and storied over with trees older than memory. It asks nothing of us. Its only purpose is life itself.

The forest becomes a patient guide for me, a moss-embroidered forest of wisdom, lined with ferns and storied over with trees older than memory. It asks nothing of us. Its only purpose is life itself.

  14. Last year in mid-July, I was backpacking the Gray Wolf and Cameron Creek loop in Olympic National Park. Beyond the Three Forks campsites, we only saw 4 people in 4 days. If you need some nature solitude, please consider this less-traveled trail so it stays maintained just by some boots on the trail. This photo is from descending Cameron Pass into the Cameron Creek alpine meadows.

  15. "It’s a natural wonder that might not be natural at all, something delicate that nevertheless represents enormous strength. And, of course, it’s that most compelling of sights: a ticking time bomb."

  16. Some parts of Olympic National Park look like they are straight out of a Disney movie set. I love all the mosses.

  17. Sol Duc Falls

Olympic National Park seems to be a magical place where greens are brighter, greener, richer, fuller, and just plain beautiful.
Throw that in with a fabulous hiking trail with small streams and rapids along the way and it magical.

  23. Smoke on Lake Crescent

As I made a trip up to the Olympic Peninsula I hadn't watched or listened to any news. If I had I might have found out that a few days prior a fire broke out in BC and the smoke was drifting south.
I turned in from the coast towards Port Angeles and was greeted with this smoke blanketed Lake Crescent. See the full image here: fineartamerica.com/featured/sm #BillGallagherPhotography #AYearForArt #SmokeOnLakeCrescent #LakeCrescent #OlympicNationalPark #Nature #Wallart

  24. The shoreline of Lake Crescent, in the Olympic National Park, Washington. Over 600 feet deep, the land drops sharply at the water's edge. In this photo, you can see the trunk of a massive tree that has fallen in:
