  1. 🧠 How does the #hippocampus keep a spatial map stable while adding aversive context?

Miguel-López et al. show that in mice running on a linear belt, #CA3 #axonal population activity preserved a common spatial #manifold across baseline, air puff and probe sessions. The aversive cue did not erase the map, but deformed it, embedding affective information into the same #representational geometry:

The real #problem is the very #structure of what we call #democracy...

...which enables elites to interfere before #elections, during elections and after elections, because we have a #representational #voting #system.

That, as you know, evolved in the #US after the #War of Independence to exclude the #common people from #participation in the #political process and to favor and #support the #elites.

So we've never had proper democracy, [even] going back to ancient Athens and such.

Instead, it’s actually people being selected randomly by sortition that say that the powers that be cannot interfere with who actually gets the rule, and ordinary people do not rule rather than people selected by political parties.

we are going to see more of this as a #minority party, the #GOP and #conservatives in general, is allowed to run our #society. Countries and societies that are run by a minority group instead of a #representational #democracy never end well and cause a lot of #damage before they fall.
Lets review the recent history of Germany starting circa 1930. Do we really need to relive that history in other countries?
We should all ask ourselves what have we done today to prevent a repeat

  13. A page from my visual poetry book EDEN --each page works with every other page like lines in a poem or stanzas in a long poem as well as create their own representational/fragile/refractive world.
