Mechanistic claims в interpretability для бедных, но бравых. Шучу, конечно. Просто когда дело дошло до задачи "придумать название" — вспомнила шутки моей коллеги. В одном из приближений можно сказать, что AI-модели обрабатывают входы послойно. На каждом слое модель выдаёт вектор , который можно читать как точку, центроид, область и так далее. Все эти точки, центроиды, области, направления кажутся абстракциями, но как только мы структурируем их — мы видим тонну прекрасного. Например, мы можем геометрически понимать и находить концепты , упакованные в многообразия . Что называется концептом, а что многообразием? Какие структуры образуют циклические компоненты и как откопать это в модели? Почему теория существует и находится эмпирически, но пока не машстабируется? На эти вопросы мы и покопаем ответы в данной статье.

🧠 New preprint by Garcia-Garcia et al.: The authors show that cerebellar #GranuleCells do not simply expand #cortical activity into a high-dimensional code. Instead, they preserve low-dimensional cortical #manifold geometry while reorienting it across contexts. This rotation separates similar tasks, reduces interference, and supports flexible dual-task learning.

For over five years the battery charger for our electric bicycle has been awkwardly dangling from a little hook.
With emotional support from toddler and actual support from #FreeCAD I finally created a simple wall bracket.
It's available from .stl sharing site #manifold :-)
Inner dimensions are 73mm by 42,5mm. With a hole in the bottom for a cable exit. Probably fits other chargers as well.

Distinct regions of the manifold mark flexion–extension transitions, and a specific “hold region” tightly controls cycle duration. Deletions emerge as failures to enter the flexor region, giving a dynamical signature of disrupted CPG function.

Using #Neuropixels recordings from the lumbar spinal cord of freely walking rats, they show that #locomotion arises from rotational #PopulationDynamics within a low-dimensional limit-cycle #manifold. When walking stops, the dynamics collapse into a postural manifold of stable fixed points, each encoding a distinct pose.
