  2. #relme #verification
    I wonder why large news organisations do not use rel="me" -
    most use at least schema.org

    publisher: {
    "@type": "Organization",
    logo: "cdn.prod.www.spiegel.de/public",
    name: "DER SPIEGEL",
    sameAs: [
    "facebook.com/derspiegel",
    "POTENTIAL_FEDI_URL"
    ]
    }

    Would you consider if above
    "mainEntityOfPage" is the same like the canonical URL
    and
    any fedi profile links to this URL

    that this is something like a
    "verified publisher" relation ?

  3. Let’s talk about making IndieWeb weirder and easier

    I’ve been a huge fan of IndieWeb since I stumbled upon it one fateful day. While the specifics of how I found it are lost in the annals of history, my willingness to use it in every project has never abated. Well, the bits I understand at any rate.

    This is why I bring up the topic of making IndieWeb ideas into weird and easier-to-use […]

  4. Meta's Threads adds rel=me support, so if you happen to be using Threads as well as Mastodon, you can do that cross-platform ID verification thing should you so choose.

  5. For anyone looking to get more out of mastodon I present Street Pass:

    streetpass.social/

    Her'es how it works

    Mastodon users verify themselves by adding metadata to a website they own.

    This metadata is often NOT clickable or even visible. it simply provides verification for mastodon.

    This addon, scans for that metadata and collects them in a list, allowing you to easily find/follow the mastodon account of a page you've visited.

  6. I wonder why neither the @signalapp nor the @Mer__edith account have a rel="me" verification with signal.org in their profile.

  7. How do you people verify your link to #PeerTube channel on #Mastodon? I tried peervideo.club/@vintprox that has a #relMe link to my associate TechHub profile, but it still doesn't lit green.

  8. @MarkRuffalo just use profile metadata and #RelMe link to your other site. :fistbump:

  9. @JLSA

    yes, it is a green check before links in the profile (and green background).

    This is not done by a centralized authority, instead the user links from his trusted page to the profile.
    Both links have to have a "rel=me" attribute.
    Most #Fediverse softwares support this and so does mastodon.

  10. @thelinuxEXP

    It is quite easy to verify yourself on #Mastodon via linking to #GitHub, because they put #relMe attribute on backlink.

    After saving profile here and getting that green mark, you can get rid of backlink in your GitHub profile or even your website (no idea why you'd last one). Although, I assume that if such extra step is taken, everything will have to be repeated per updating Mastodon profile again. Hence, leaving backlink is more reliable.

  11. @nilesh but of course, it makes sense to specify the protocol for any URL.

    I believe Mastodon does a good job itself imagining metadata presented by user, and I wish more services did just the the thing it did: allow arbitrary links (a little touch of showing URL w/o protocol is good too).

    Moreover, I liked the concept of website verification: #relMe link that should point back to their originating profile, to prove it's really them. I think more websites need to do just that.

  12. Can't for the life of me figure out why the Wordpress on my profile isn't #verifying. I've tried placing the rel="me" anchor link in several places in my templates.

    Anyone willing to offer advice?

  13. I've been trying to get mastodon verification from a website I built. I added the micro format rel="me" backlink in the footer of the site. But it's not showing as verified. Why is this? Is there a delay in it appearing?

    Website is dromorecc.com

  14. I put this code in the head of my website and tried the body as well but for some reason it’s not becoming green in my profile. Would someone here have a hint for me why it’s not working? #relme #verify <link rel="me" href="bsd.network/@jansauerbier" />

  15. Acabo de usar la nueva opción de verificación de #identidad de #mastodon llamada #relme. Fué bastante sencillo empleando mi sitio web personal, acá la "palomita verde" de verificación ccp @maop
