Dear Sen/Rep -
I want you to take a firm stand against the groundwork this Republican Administration is laying to return disability to a medical model of treatment in institutions.
I worry, that this Republican Administration wants to return to the days when government entities felt no obligation to support people with disabilities, and I want you standing proudly and frequently with disability advocates. I want to see you in the news and on social media taking a stand in support of funding for mainstream support structures for those who are differentially abled.
Our society should support those with disabilities with how we design our buildings, our transportation networks, our educational programs, and our workplace habits.I want you to be a public push-back on any efforts to make disabled Americans some sort of problem that needs to be hidden in an institution. I want you to stand firm in your support of the Olmstead ruling and in your support of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The United States has more than enough wealth to make sure every American can thrive. I want my tax dollars supporting more social services, and I want you to lead on this effort.

"DOJ memo stokes fear among disability advocates of a return to institutionalization"
"The memo … argues that states do not have to provide in-home or community-based care to people with disabilities who need support. These services allow many disabled Americans to continue to live, learn and work at home or in their own communities, among family and friends."

Yesterday the current DOJ issued an opinion attempting to strip access from the disabled. These white supremacists emulate the Naz|s eugenicists.
"Eugenics - a set of largely discredited beliefs and practices that aim to improve the genetic quality of a human population."

Another quote:
"Like Abbott and himself, Kafka said that many ADAPT members have spinal injuries that require daily assistance. 'There’s somebody that helps when he has physical needs,' Kafka said. 'That’s why we believe he should be more sensitive to us.'
Yet Kafka said that little concrete progress has been made to improve the lives of disabled Texans since their first meeting with the governor, who keeps rejecting the group’s subsequent meeting requests..."

👏 This Saturday, June 22, is the 25th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Olmstead v. L.C., an incredibly important moment in #DisabilityRights history. #Olmstead25
#Olmstead held that unjustified segregation of people with disabilities constitutes unlawful discrimination under the #ADA. Since this decision many disabled people have been able to live more independent lives in their communities. Bazelon Center w/ more: https://www.bazelon.org/the-olmstead-case/
