DIY olla watering pots!
We started with three boxes full of second-hand terracotta pots and began by finding the perfect matches. Next, we glued them together.
We’re almost there – just need some wooden plugs to seal the holes at the bottom.

This is a bean plant leaf. There are many like it. All thanks to a clay pot in the ground stoppered with silicone, and topped with a repurposed plate. Ollas, however you can buy or make, is the way forward.

When the tunnel was demolished for the new greenhouse, the ollas were in a poor state and didn't go back in again.
You are absolutely right about the time over winter. But as a former colleague visiting my garden once said: Arne, you are tinkerer not a gardener!

#Ollas sind tönerne #Wasserspeicher für das #Gemüse #Beet.
Sie sollen schon von den Inkas benutzt worden sein und werden "Ojas" ausgesprochen. Sie bestehen aus porösen Ton, der nicht glasiert ist und bei relativ niedriger (ca 900O C) Temperatur gebrannt wurde.

@Frau_Mensch ich würde sie selber basteln. @pd hat eine tolle Anleitung gemacht. Klicke auf den Hashtag #ollas Habe leider selbst noch keine Erfahrungen.

@Frau_Mensch #Ollas nicht Lollas. Unglasierte Tonkrüge die ins Beet eingegraben werden, wobei die Einfüllöffnung oben aus der Erde ragt. Du befüllst sie und über mehrere Tage sickert langsam Feuchtigkeit in den Boden. In meinen Augen besser als Tröpfchenbewässerung, da unterhalb der Oberfläche befeuchtet wird und die Wurzeln zur Olla wachsen und nicht nach oben.

- partly #shading with trees
- dry-out protection by a #windbreak like a #hedge or #deadhedgeTo avert using plastic tubes, my next project are #ollas for the annual vegetables.

En pleine expérimentation d'#oyas ou #ollas DIY avec des pots en terre cuite dont j'ai vérifié la porosité, au moment de les acheter, d'un petit coup de langue. :-p J'ai bouché le trou de drainage avec les moyens du bord : un fond de speed béton et un coup d'eau. Et hop ! Eh bien, ce n'est pas aussi simple que je me l'imaginais. J'ai fais un test en mettant de l'eau. Ce matin il n'y en avait plus. J'ai d'abord pensé que le béton avait laissé passer l'eau, ce qui reste une hypothèse.
