There are a lot of CRAPPY "diy olla" instructions online. I bet it's worse now with AI. The main issue with all of the instructions, is the many recommendations for gluing pots together and sealing the hole in the bottom do not work. Even when cured, few glues and sealants work when always filled with water and underground (they all rot out and separate). Gorilla glue does not work. Tried 4 different grouts. Was going to use asphalt roof sealant, but then you read the ingredients.... (do not want crap seeping into your garden bed). The best for this that I have tried is stucco mix, but i suspect some kind of cement would work best. #random #olla

I'm stucco on you. (Had leftover stucco from a stucco repair on the house, and figured out I could use it to seal off the end of this clay pipe to use as an Olla for the garden). Will hopefully work better than my prior solution (clay saucer glued on bottom with Gorilla glue). #gardening #Olla

@inch @teetrinker Ollas hab ich mir letztes Jahr auch gebastelt, aus je 2 Terracotta-Blumementöpfen. Funktioniert in den Maurerkübeln super, auch wenn das Loch zum Befüllen unangenehm klein ist. Werde ich evtl. vorsichtig mit einem Dosenbohrer erweitern, mal sehn...

Thinking about the predicted hot and dry Summer coming up and how to keep my veggie garden going.

I read this article about making DIY ollas today, pleased to learn you can make one with just a terra cotta pot, a pot saucer, cork, and blu tack.

Still a little dubious of the saucer will be enough to keep mosquitoes from breeding in it or slugs from congregating around it.

Ich hab mir ein paar Ollas aus Tontöpfen und Aquariumsilikon gebaut und nen preiswerten Hundertlitertank für das Bewässerungsset von Blumat bekommen. Das Kind im Tank wird vor Inbetriebnahme wieder entfernt, keine Sorge.

Heute 3 preiswerte Dreiliter-Ollas bekommen. Ich dachte erst, die sind zu groß für meine 90L-Maurerkübel, aber das Feedback anderer Ollanutzer zeigt, dass die wohl genau die richtige Größe haben. Na mal sehn, 3 Kübel kann ich damit versorgen.

Das trifft sich gut, denn der Rest bekommt das neue Tropf-Bewässerungssystem von Blumat installiert - da kann ich dann nen schönen Vergleich fahren.

Però altres civilitzacions han utilitzat sistemes duo-decimals, que matemàticament, té molta més lògica: el 12 és divisible per 2, 3, 4, 6 donant números enters. Per això per quantificar el pas del temps o les circumferències utilitzem 360º, 24h, 60min.

Si el pas del temps fos 100% decimal, avui seria "dia" 17 del 2023.

Our little London garden can get really dry and we're trying not to over-use water. I just found out about Ollas and how to make them. This one is in a large pot and seems to be working well!
