When you are teaching fractions, proportion, rate, rations, similar triangles, trigonometry, scale drawings ...... THESE ARE ALL PROPORTIONAL REASONING. If you show students how this all links together instead of teaching different bloody methods for each section, it's so much easier for them to make a coherent conceptual map.

I can see into the neighbor's fenced backyard from our kitchen. They've had a succession of dachshunds in the past 20 years. They recently adopted a German shepherd mix, white/gray/brown. She's just over there living her life and my lizard brain yells COYOTE the first time I see her each day.
