Anyone else have this issue of bringing conversations to a stop?
Is it what they call selective mutism because of my anxiety?
My daughter can talk and talk and talk about whatever but it seems like she is conversing and not just talking. I think it’s cool and i want to be able to do that. She is so good at it, I sometimes can’t believe she’s my kid.

Growing up, I struggled with "Selective Mutism," an anxiety response that caused me to go silent and mute for extended periods of time. It wasn't until I discovered my core values that I was able to overcome this challenge and find my voice.

I had situational mutism as a kid/teen and still as an adult, and I'm curious, for those who have experienced it, what went on in your head during it? How would you personally describe your inner world/experience while it was happening?

This week I've mainly been reading (no.22)
Have just spent two days reading Ayisha Malik's political satire/parable of a social moment of silence, The Movement (2022). Its a fabulously compelling #feminist novel of #politics & relationships that manages to be profound without being preachy. I usually find 'political' novels a little uneven (when the politics gets in way of the narrative dynamic), but not here; this is sure-footed. plausible, invigorating & a treat to read
