Mimi is a a first-generation Egyptian immigrant, a popular political activist and grandmother of 15. She was asked to run for county office during the 2018 midterm elections.
The section on Mimi in the Resisterhood Learning Guide focuses on the driving question: What are some of the challenges immigrants overcome to make friends in new communities, while also preserving their own cultural identities?
