If you have to decide between a monolith and micro-services, then make sure that you think about a third option: running the monolithic code on multiple nodes. It does not scale to multiple teams well but scales rather well regarding requests per seconds. Nowadays, there are also scalable databases in the cloud (e.g. v-CPU SQL storage in Azure).
Of course, there is a limit, but the architecture is much simpler.

I'm reading and hearing lots of rants about #microservices these days but oftentimes people advocating #monoliths forget one of the major advantages of microservices: They **can** radically reduce the trusted computing base (#TCB) of a particular entity, i.e. make each individual part of your application more secure. It's true that you pay for that advantage with more operational compexity but it's worth weighing this complexity against the security benefits that microservices offer.
