π₯³ Yet again, big news from BESSER
You can now automatically #deploy an app from your software #models
For free. All from your online editor π€― π€―
No easier way to play with #lowcode and #modeldriven development.

π₯° Always happy to get this feedback from users π₯°:
"We have just started our MDE course, and we are adopting BESSER as the supporting framework. Yesterday we had the first class, and it was easy for students to start modeling (so much more than when using EMF"
And with them, we have already 20 universities using BESSER to teach #mde #uml #modeling

π’ New paper introducing the concept of #Vibe #Modeling β‘οΈ Vibe Modeling: Challenges and Opportunities π’
where I discuss a novel approach to integrate the best of both #AI and of #ModelDriven engineering to speed up the development of #reliable #complex systems. I outline the key concepts of vibe modeling and highlight the opportunities and open challenges it presents for the future of #modeling.
πhttps://arxiv.org/pdf/2507.23120
This is an evolution of a blog post where I first introduced these ideas a few months ago (https://modeling-languages.com/vibe-modeling/)
An improved version (thanks to the reviewers' comments) of this work will be presented in the 3rd International Workshop Modeling in the Age of Large Language Models (LLM4Modeling) at ER'2025

π While I mostly publicize my #lowocode #handbook now, our #modeldriven #book is still pushing strong πͺ.
We're approaching 150 institutions #worldwide using the book. Latest one is an #MDE course by Mert Ozkaya at Yeditepe University (number 141).
With both books you can cover any #modeling, #DSL, #lowcode, #codegeneration, #modeldriven... topic. Pick the one that works best for you. Or even better, pick both ! π

π’ User Modeling in Model-Driven Engineering: A Systematic Literature Review π’
In this new paper, led by Aaron David Conrardy and with Alfredo Capozucca and yours truly, we study how users are modeled in current #modeldriven processes.
Modeling user's characteristics (including, e.g. their personality) could open the door to more #personalized applications.
But, unfortunately, we argue that:
β User modeling is mostly ignored or very superficial
β There is no unified user model that can be easily adopted
β Opportunities leveraging AI for user modeling (and viceversa) aren't there yet
Let's change this πͺ . Starting with a discussion in #Koblenz for #STAF #ECMFA!

A #Metascience Study of the #LowCode #Scientific #Field ππ
We aimed to:
βοΈ Analyze the composition and growth (e.g., size, diversity, venues, and topics) of the emerging #LowCode #community; and
βοΈ Explore how these aspects differ from those of the βclassicalβ #modeldriven community. This covers #ResearchQuestions such as:
βAre Low-Code #publications affecting the number of traditional #Modeling publications?
βHow many Modeling conferences and workshops aim to explicitly attract Low-Code publications?
βHow are authors distributed across Low-Code and traditional Modeling publications?
β How many Low-Code open-source platforms and tools explicitly relate to traditional Modeling techniques?
Lots of interesting insights π€―π€―π€―Read the post for the full details β¬οΈβ¬οΈβ¬οΈ and/or meet me at the next #STAF #ECMFA conference in #Koblenz next month

Did you know that there is plenty of UML in the low-code world?
(even if it's never acknowledged, I guess due to the bad press UML has and to better justify the "innovation" of the low-code tool by selling it comes with its own languages) ππ

It's our 14th birthday πππ
Modeling-languages.com started in 2009 with the mission "to explore and discuss when, where and how software modeling and model-driven engineering (and when NOT) can improve current software development practices"
1000 posts, 2000 comments and >1M visits later, we're still working on it.
Not the models' fault, software is more and more complicated every day so we need to keep evolving as well!.
