Remember the hypnotic psychedlic #visualization from the #Milkdrop plugin in #Winamp?

I wasted enough time trying & failing to get modern equivalent Project-M to work on Linux.

But thanks to the #InternetArchive I don't even need to: I can just play some files in Webamp & it comes with Milkdrop! (although I haven't worked out how to make it fullscreen yet EDIT: right-click on Milkdrop > Fullscreen))

Plus you can try different skins, like this sweeeeet #Jaws one! 😆

Зачем видео фракталов, если есть незабвенный #Milkdrop, который даже после «смерти» #Winamp с радостью поддерживают множество других плееров.

Не знаю, как насчет Баха, но под Northaunt он вообще шикарный визуал выдает.

@Linux_in_a_Bit Ok so I run https://webamp.org/ on Brave and played my favourite songs on Milkdrop at 1080x1920 full screen. Absolutely insane.

Also tried the Butterchurn website, very very good stuff. Could not run the nmp, dunno what I’m doing wrong

It seems it actually exists...

Or at least used to in 2013 - it was open sourced- so maybe someone will rewrite it at some point - or maybe it will be just left abandoned who knows.

Thanks to a little research on the internet, I was able to get MilkDrop to work in Foobar2000. I then set about collecting all the presets I could find. About 52,000. I sorted through those and got about 5600 mind boggling, beautiful, hypnotic visualizations. The only way it could be better is if MilkDrop was a stand alone program that would work with any sound source. I can't code, but I can dream.

Mezzanine by #MassiveAttack was my favorite album for playing on #Winamp with my favorite plugins including one for improved stereo, one for deeper bass, and #MilkDrop (or one of my other favorite visualizations, Geiss and G-Force). I've been playing it while I've been on the federated timeline. "Group Four" is my favorite track on the album. It's playing as we speak.

These visuals bring me back to simpler times when I loved listening to mp3s through #WinAmp, while just watching the various visualisers such as #MilkDrop. (And frequently taking screenshots to use as desktop wallpapers.)
