Ich mache jetzt seit einiger Zeit die deutsche Übersetzung für fooyin und finde es super spannend, wie schnell es sich zu einer echten Konkurrenz für foobar2000 entwickelt.
Durch die Übersetzung bekomme ich alle neuen Plugins oder Einstellungsmöglichkeiten mit und ich bin echt beeindruckt!
Und im Gegensatz zu foobar2000 läuft es auch nativ auf Linux und ist open source -
Does anyone know a good plugin for Foobar2000 that shows an album art overview for your library?
I'm starting to get used to that using Bandcamp and VLC on my phone, and I'd like that on the desktop as well.
I found one on github, but it looks dodgy. 🫤 -

There is a little discrepancy with the #Foobar2000 mobile v2.26 beta that it display url encoded file names when browsing webdav shares that are not indexed into its media library. I am using it like this when playing my audio books / audio drama. If you are using Foobar 2000 mobile on android for playing media from webdav remotes, perhaps you can support my wish so this will be looked into at some point.

Some #foobar2000 help needed, so I #AskFedi.
I have two separate libraries, one for stereo, one for multi-channel in /media/music and /media/surround, respectively. Those folders are monitored.
Now if an album exists both as 2.0 and 5.1, the library view shows both, so I set up filters (%path% HAS /media/music and %path HAS /media/surround), which I applied to two ReFacets in two tabs. The question is how can I get folder view in there, so I can drill down as artist/album/path/to/song.ext? Without folder view I get columns which I don't like, because I like 'em sorted as Artist, The/Album, The, not The Artist/The Album.
Any ideas? -

@alexskunz Yeah, #deadbeef is almost there. It's simple, very usefull, it responds quickly to navigation and keyboard commands, can handle very large playlists, supports variety of formats, has a lot of features that look like inspired by #foobar2000. I've got it installed, I'm using it for some tasks.
Unfortunatelly it's playlist view is a custom control and there is no accessibility support for that control. So when using arrow keys to change selection I don't know which item is being selected and what's the text of that item. -
@menelion @fubsepude And to add a bit of criticism there is an area where I feel I don't have enough tools. There are loads of audio players on linux but none of them is as good as #foobar2000 on windows. For working with audio, the best I can think of is #audacity and it's forks however it's not accessible enough so my limited audio / video editing come down to using tools such as losslesscut, ffmpeg and sox.

@menelion @jonathan859 I am wondering why you think #EAC is not suitable for audio books? #foobar2000 has secure ripping as well so if you like it it's a good tool. Also cdex has been open-sourced years ago and can still be used. github.com/elha/CDex

Going full-time over to #Linux as a daily driver has long been somewhat of a problem. One problem was (believe it or not) the #music player.
My music player of choice has been #Foobar2000 for years now, because of it's versatility and extensibility. I thought it was the one big pill I had to swallow in the full transition.
But #fooyin has now become the #qt alternative to Foobar2000, with the same cutomizable interface and options that it has.
As music managers go, they both are fantastic.

Foobar 2000 users: I have a question that I'm mildly embarrassed to ask. How do I change the media volume? I'm totally blind and use the interface with keyboard commands only, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to change the volume no matter where I look in the menus

TIL there's a file integrity verifier built into FooBar2000. (Right click > Utilities > Verify Integrity)
Very handy to weed out broken files from the 'ol sample library. -

Máme rodinné #Spotify Premium, ale přesto se často nachytám, že si raději pustím hudbu z YouTube, protože prostě některé (neoficiální) remixy, covery nebo soundtracky na Spotify či jiných ofiko. distribucích prostě nejsou.
Přemýšlím, zda si nezačít hudbu prostě "syslit" na disk a tvořit si playlisty apod., tak jak se to dělalo dřív.
Děláte to někdo tak? Na jakém SW jedete? Nabízí se samozřejmě #VLC ale koukám třeba na #AIMP nebo #foobar2000 díky tomu že na ně jsou celkem pěkné skiny. 🤔

Mal wieder ein Notebook mit #Foobar2000 und #Linux in Händen. Also #Foobar (2.24.5) tut auch hier unter einem #Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS seinen Dienst (und schiebt ganz wunderbar High-res-Webradio-Klänge übers Netzwerk auf einen Pioneer- Streamer). Meine Ohren freuen sich!

Just downloaded a plugin called foo_lnk-1.3.1-20100107.zip
which allows #Foobar2000 to follow .lnk files to their destination. Winamp just did this natively so didn't realise Foobar was missing a massive chunk of ThemeStream until I realised wait... Where's all my adverts?
I have a folder with 9 .lnk files in it which goes to various places so I don't have to duplicate gigs of content and it was all being ignored. No longer. Mahahahaha!
OK done now.
