Anyone know a #linux music player that let's you use a #winamp skin AND also scale it to make it appear bigger on high-resolution modern screens? Like just a simple 2x, 3x or 4x pixel scaling would be good.

#Audacious includes a winamp mode, but it appear tiny on a high resolution screen and I haven't found a way to upscale it.

Edit: CTRL+D lets you double-size audacious, which looks great. This was apparently the kind of question I had to ask the whole internet before looking it up myself.

I wonder how #Audacious (a fully fledged music player with a GUI) manages to reproduce an Internet radio stream using just <10MB of RAM, while my #neon (Audacious' #HTTP lib) CLI test app consumes 23MB.

My implementation is quite naive, but it's not even reproducing the stream. All it does is printing metadata updates.

It uses ~10MB less than my test with #libcurl though.

As nice as #VLC is, using that skin was a bit annoying because opening videos would have the actual video hidden.

So I switched to #audacious for the time being.
Streams still open almost instantly and I’m digging that retro look. The whopping 12MB of RAM it uses is also very nice.

Since I save my favourite #InternetRadio stations in a .m3u file, the transition was trivial. #FileOverApp

Audacious 4.6 is now available!

Audacious is a cross-platform music player that is a descendant of XMMS. It allows you to play music files found on your computer or play internet radio stations from a URL while preserving resources for other tasks.

Last year, Audacious 4.5 was released to provide playback history plugin (Qt) and to allow you to fetch lyrics from lrclib.net. Now, Audacious 4.6 is now available for you to try out. Here are some of the new features and changes that this version of Audacious introduced:

• File browser plugin has been added to provide you with an improved user interface for browsing music files.
• Playback history plugin is now added to the GTK version of Audacious to achieve feature parity with the Qt version.
• Now Playing for macOS plugin is now available.
• Previous button now allows you to wrap to the last track in the playlist.
• Audacious can now support all AIFF types, including those that are under the .aif format.
• You can now restore the playlist deletion confirmation dialog box under Settings.
• Audacious can now read lyrics tag from Opus, Ogg Vorbis, and FLAC files.
• …and many more features.

Also, you can now play Musepack SV8 files (.mpc) on Audacious. Earlier, Audacious only supported Musepack SV7 files, and couldn’t play any Musepack files that were encoded with SV8.

Bugs have also been fixed to increase stability and reliability, including:

• Malformed PSF2 files no longer causes Audacious to crash.
• Migrating config settings should no longer cause Audacious to crash.
• PSF metadata parser should no longer cause buffer overflows.
• Encoding issues related to music lyrics on Windows have been fixed.
• Infinite loop with “Next album” and enabled shuffle mode should no longer happen.

Raspberry'ye de bu mavi çok yakıştı.

Hâlâ "açık" temadayım.

Audacious'u koyu temaya aldım ve koyu gri dengesinin güzelliğine hayret ettiğim için böyle bıraktım.

Este #ViernesDeEscritorio les comparto que va muy bien el proyecto de educación tecnológica en casa con mi hija. Hace unos 6 meses, nos cedieron una #iMac de 2011, atorada en #MacOS 10.13.6 (ya no se le puede instalar #Chrome, sólo admite #Firefox ESR, #LibreOffice 7.4.5 y un montón de limitantes más).

Hasta el fin de semana pasado, mi hija de 9 años, usaba esa máquina para tareas y juegos, con MacOS. Recientemente, obtuve un dock para discos duros, rescaté uno de una computadora que desechó mi papá, conecté ambas cosas a la iMac y le configuré su propio #EliveLinux en modo live usb con persistencia (única forma en que consigo preservar MacOS y usar #Linux ahí).

El domingo pasado, con una sencilla pero elocuente explicación, le di su iniciación como hacker, sensibilizando sobre la importancia de explorar la tecnología más allá de lo evidente y buscar alternativas más privadas, seguras, personalizables y sustentables:

✅ Revisó su primer correo NO-Bigtech
✅ Hizo su primera tarea en #LibreOffice (v. 25.8.5)
✅ Concluyó una serie de ejercicios de inglés en plataforma mediante Firefox (v. 147)
✅ Envió su primer documento a imprimir
✅ Eligió su primera lista musical en #Audacious

Estaba extasiada con todo lo que se podía hacer mejor en Linux en comparación con MacOS, pero no tanto como yo 🤩.

Kaç yıldır Linux kullanıyorum ve Pi-Apps'de bu uygulama gözümün önünde, ama bu güne kadar tanıtan kimseye denk gelmedim!

Audacity'yi biliyorum ve pek işime yaramadığı için kullanmıyorum. Bunu da onun gibi değerlendirip bakmıyordum!

okay, i finally got to get #KDE #Plasma running

sadly, unlike #GNOME, it does not have native support for USBGuard, so i have to use the usbguard-notifier external tool that asks me to manually approve each device

on the positive side, the #audacious player's qt interface catches onto the current kde theme being dark (it didn't catch onto the GNOME or gtk theme being dark)

Overkill ist übrigens, wenn man einen ca 15 Jahre alten first gen #i5 M520 im #kdenlive ein Video rendern lässt und gleichzeitig versucht, Fotos in #Gimp zu bearbeiten, während #Audacious einige #MP3 abspielt. Aber im Gegensatz zu Windoof schafft der schnuckelige kleine #Linux Pinguin das... irgendwann. Ich gehöre noch zu einer Generation, die es nicht ständig eilig hatte. 😂
