My lovely mech keyboard dorks: I just want a macro or something to type the Greek character lambda. How do??

New mechanical keyboard just arrived. I feel like a cool kid momentarily.

And then there's the really good version, with the serial numbers unobscured.
I have a fancy programmable keyboard. I got it configured over the course of a few weeks when I bought it, learning the QMK system and figuring out what features were really cool and which ones were useful -- not, of course, a complete overlap.
And I left it alone for about a year, since it was working well.
Then, today, I realized that I had a new requirement to type ctrl-shift-C and ctrl-shift-V much more often than in the past, and these are not comfortable combos. But the point of a programmable keyboard is that you can program it.
To save some false steps: I had
pip uninstall --force qmk; pipx install qmk;
Uploaded a saved keyboard layout to config.qmk.fm, changed C and V on layer 1 to Application Copy and Application Paste, downloaded the new keymap, compiled it, gurgled to discover what the Prepare To Flash command is for this keyboard (defaults to Fn-ESC) and flashed it.
No drama. Many imaginary internet points awarded to the QMK devs.

This is probably an expensive 65% mechanical keyboards, but probably not the most expensive out there.

I've come to the conclusion that no matter what cool switches I get, Gateron's "Pro" switches are pretty much what I fall back on every time. Reasonably priced, smooth, factory lubed.
They've come a long way, Gateron, since the old days of raspy and scratchy switches.
Anyway, save yourself some money, just go for Gateron Pros.

Wow, I was really 50/50 on whether to get the Yellow Pro V2 or Milky Yellows, but the Yellow Pros both feel super nice AND sound nice. More subdued and not as high-pitched clicky as the boxed pinks.

Here we go again. Time to replace the Gazzew Boba U4 switches to Gateron Pro Yellows V2. Lesssgo.

nothing like getting an ortho split keyboard to make you realize you never really knew how to type in the first place #mechkeyboards

I’ve been using a flex office space recently. Pretty happy with my semi-mobile desk setup.
Keyboard and trackpad stay in a locker and everything else comes home.
Continuity camera has been a great portable high quality web cam.
