My current WeeChat setup
Since it's come up in conversation a couple of times in the past week (waves at @snowdusk__ and @yarmo), here's a #screenshot of my current #WeeChat setup (though with different buffers selected than my usual arrangement).
"What am I looking at on the screenshot?"
A buffer list ¹ on the left. Buffers represent the channels, private message streams and status timelines from the various chat media you are connected to.
Side the buffer list are a variety of horizontally and vertically panes, which @weechat called 'windows', each window showing the contents of one
² of the buffers."What buffers are visible in these window panes?"
From top left to bottom right these are:
- #sourcehut's water cooler IRC channel,
- #Twitter timeline, provided through the Twitter #libpurple plugin for #Bitlbee.
- #chanmon, a Perl script to display activity from all currently active (and monitored) buffers.
- #highmon, a Perl script to display highlights from all (highlight-monitored) buffers.
- Lobby #IRC channel, general discussion channel.
- #openMSX on #liberaChat IRC network, for discussions regarding the #MSX emulator I occasionally contribute to.
- #Twitch chat channel for #Kikoskia's stream, provided by setting up a Twitch OAuth token and connecting over their IRC-compatible interface along with twitch python script for stream status details.
- The #WeeChat IRC channel on #libera.
"What's making it work?"
All running in a #tmux terminal multiplexer session, running under #WSL2 on #Windows, in the #WindowsTerminalPreview #terminal client.

New desk layout roughly implemented. Still need the table legs to get the right side off of a cooler and some milk crates, and ill probably rearrange the monitor setup once I can actually put weight over there. Cable straps coming tomorrow hopefully so I can fix that nightmare, and get back to tinkering with my SBC NAS.
More drawers and cabinets as well as wall shelving coming soon also.

His/Hers desk setup in 2017. My laptop was a ThinkPad X250 running OpenBSD, attached to a 2560x1440 Dell monitor. Hers was a 2016 Rose Gold MacBook Retina running whatever macOS, and a Mac mini 2012 attached to the same model monitor. This was our townhouse in Ecuador. The keyboard is a Model M SSK from 1997. So what's going on with this instance? Is this my "main" presence or am I still on shellsharks.social? Fair question. The answer is, yes! This is a #GoToSocial instance, on a new fun, shiny, vanity domain. If it works out, I might end up moving all my activity over here and shutting down the Mastodon instance I have at shellsharks.social. Until then, I'm operating out of both spaces. This also means that for now, I haven't migrated my followers (or followed accounts) over here, so don't be offended if I haven't followed you back yet! I don't want to knock this fairly low-spec'ed instance over so I'm taking it slow with how I am using it.
Why am I doing this? Well for one main reason really, I wanted an instance where I could post more than 500 characters at a time. GtS gives me that, and much more. Bonus points for A. being less resource intensive than Mastodon (so cheaper to run), B. more customizable and C. I could get an even more ridiculous vanity domain.
So don't be surprised to see a lot more from this account than my usual @shellsharks account. If you'd like, you can follow me here for now. No worries either way.

Back in the Spring, I got all the #system76 computers together at my wife's desk and took a photo. L to R -> Darter Pro desktop (Debian Stable); HP Dev One (Pop!_OS); Dell monitor; and Galago Pro (Debian Stable). Worth it for being able to rotate it though!

Earlier this month, I reorganized my #studio. Things that settled into their place over the last few years now sit in containers, rather than in open piles.
It's the first autumn with newly constructed buildings next door, so I've got a lot less light in the room. To offset that, this weekend I rolled out a bunch of #RGBIC strips to boost the ambient lighting, and a #Litra lamp for my #WFH Zoom calls.
Feeling good about my #workspace, so I twisted on the 10-22mm for this #battlestations shot.

I was already working from home before COVID hit. When we moved I was fortunate enough to have an area to dedicate to my office. I spend more time in this room out of any.
