Changed the #Gateron for #Kailh White and Navy I had left over. Typing for longer times on the tactile switches just makes me feel icky. I need some clicks to give me feedback.

Bought some #Gateron Aliaz Silent Tactile Switches to switch out the brown Cherry switches in my #Epomaker #Skyloong #GK68 I use for work. Now I'm thinking of also changing the #Kailh Blue Navies in my #DygmaDefy... I do like the clicky Kailh, but tactile may be a new interest. Maybe I'll order some more switches to test. Any tips for tactile (that you can really feel and 100gf or heavier) switches?

Update on my #gateron #smoothie switches. I love them, I have really been digging the linear feel and the creamy sound is pretty soothing on the ears. I added some foam backing to kind of amp it up. But the keyboard sound does come through my mic during pairing sessions a bit.

Anyone have experience with Gateron switches, specifically in regards to longevity? I've had an Anne Pro 2 with Gateron Reds for the last ~2 years (bought it used, though it appeared to be very well cared for) and have had multiple occasions where I sit at my computer in the morning, and a new switch starts acting up (occasionally chattering, but more recently, requiring a lot of force to actuate). Last week, it was right shift, and today it's H. I usually just tap the shit out of it 'til it starts behaving again, but my previous keyboard, an iKBC Poker 2 with Cherry Reds, never had these kinds of issues, and I used and abused that thing non-stop for several years straight, and would still be using and abusing it if the micro-USB port didn't rip clean off the PCB along with all it's pads. I never had any kind of issues with actuation or chattering on that board.

I think it might be right about time that I give repairing my Poker 2 another go. I would replace it with another Poker 2 if I could find one with MX Reds for a reasonable price, but I mostly see them with MX Browns (blech).

My #Gateron G Pro Yellow switches for my #mechanicalkeyboard just cleared customs and while they aren't super high-end, I am still VERY EXCITED. They replace my standard #keychron browns

Maybe its because they are new, but, man, do these switches feel "firm". The actuation feels on point, and the click is very satisfying.

Pretty happy with the purchase.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but Gateron G Pro Red switches feel awful compared to the Yellows. Then again I'm comparing red probably v1 to yellow v2. The reds just feel dead.

I'm designing some MIDI controller with magnetic hall effect sensors and #gateron KS-20 series switches, in the style of those Jankó keyboards. I'm not only getting around PCBWay's prices, but also creating a very nicely scalable system. I would need some extra info on how I should place the sensors (Gateron's material shows it on the bottom, which will make my life harder).

Отправил им недавно на диагностику и обслуживание клавиатуру с hotswap сокетами где после смены родных свитчей Gateron Brown на Cherry MX Blue со временем часть сокетов отказала.

Честно рассчитывал, что раз это я своими заменами ушатал сокеты, то надо будет заплатить за работу и переправку клавиатуры курьером.

Но нет.

Считайте этот пост ещё одним лучом уважения и любви к GeekBoards 🤷‍♂️

Да, это будет несколько дороже, чем на Aliexpress. Но там и на вопросы ответят, и очень клиентоориентированно обслужат по гарантии.

Так что рекомендую. И в комменте добавлю историю, которую не помню писал ли тут ранее.

Earlier I finished replacing the keycaps with the black with white text ones, and it looks really nice, I'm happy with it. Gateron Pro 2.0 Yellow switch stems are a nice, soft yellow color, in case you were wondering. It's very calming to look at. Some keys like Shift and main Enter have foam dampers on the sides under them attached to the plastic surface/frame.

Finished changing the switches on my #ergoDoxEZ and I am now rocking the clicky's. Should prevent some characters being entered by an errant finger, and sounds cool to boot.

Also changed my layout to #colemakDH as that's what I'm learning. I'm still on the first 5 keys, but having the layout there should help sink it in.

Backstory::
     So before I got into mechanical keyboards, I always bought prefabs and never thought anything of mechanicals. Someone introduced me and convinced me to take on the hobby and had a smooth transition into becoming an enthusiast.
     My first keyboard I had assembled myself was a GH60 Satan pcb with clear Gateron switches. I was aiming for a clear/rgb aesthetic. In the process of assembling it myself, I gained a lot of experience soldering and desoldering. This helped me land a better paying job I held for two year afterward before moving on. Overall, the entire process of putting together the parts and programming my keyboard was as much entertaining to me as it was insightful and educational.

In the pic(today):::
The pcb I use today is a
- #1upkeyboards 1UP RGB 60% PCB HTE (Hotswap Tsangan Edition)
- Clear #Gateron switches
- Clear blank keycap set from #MaxKeyboards as well as a few artesian keycaps
- Modified case from the original GH60 Satan

In the future:::
My next planned build is an #ergodox which I already have the resistors soldered onto the pcbs, but still need the remaining parts(switches, caps etc) which I will need to order.
