With apologies everyone, is javascript's
foo`bar${baz}buz${bif}frob${ulous}${ly}`
sugar (?) for
(apply 'foo '(#("bar" "buz" "frob" "") #("baz" "bif" "ulous" "ly")))

#emacs #mastoquestions (for everybody actually) #programming
@mousebot @sacha
Do you two think
https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/html_node/elisp/Example-Major-Modes.html
is a reasonable reference for cramming my elisp into one major mode? I was debating looking at Eduardo's eev, though I guess that's mostly minor mode based, or slime, but slime is like saying "I'm going to make my attic be like Valhalla" <_> -
So I made the mistake of responding to someone that I didn't think they'd gotten good advice about their social media crossposting python app based on an abandoned codebase they wanted to recruit me to do the programming part of, and now they want me to explain...
Can anyone help me out here #mastoquestions #programming

L'enfant Marcelline à propos de son frère cocu:

This is what happens whenever I open the tab on my browser where #mastodon is. Why? It makes absolutely no sense to me.

I know there are #emacs wizards here. #localisation #localization
How can I (use dired again?) reencode all files in a directory tree from iso-latin1-dos to utf-8.
I can do it for one file at a time using M-x set-coding-system-buffer-file. #MastoQuestions
Thanks for your wizardly powers x_x

@jns_channel

So my tiny chamber in my flat gets crazy hot by 5pm. I have a standing fan. I kinda need to keep the curtains mostly closed because I have a poorly positioned window. Do I: -

Is #ECL aware of or capable with C++'s stl std::function rather than just C function pointers?

so I'm running the glitch-soc fork of mastodon, commit 97ce39a7397299f7b6575098cccfee02889937ce. for some reason, when I access the admin dashboard, then moderation, then Federation, I get a rather helpful, or not so helpful, this page is not correct error. I checked with another administrator running the same fork, and their's works properly. Checking the logs aren't being very helpful, and their scrolling to fast to really get a read on what's broken. Anyone have any ideas? All compilation, and migrations return no errors. Previously, before I added additional ram to the server I did get migration and compilation errors, but I followed the troubleshooting steps at https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/troubleshooting/ and those fixed the errors to my knowledge once I doubled the ram on the server, but still the federation tab under admin then moderation is tossing errors. Any help would be apreciated. #MastoAdmin #MastoQuestions

#commonLisp #ASDF #ASDF3 #Mastoquestions #programming hey so how am I meant to know what got :mix'ed into a package as by #'uiop:define-package programmatically?
I'm using :class :package-inferred-system anyway, so I'm referring to packages by identifying the file they are identified with in a given system: Am I meant to just open the file, and then #'ASSOC :mix in (cddr (read)) ? -
I wish my room mate had just a bit of a bigger brain in his head. He's fallen for #investment #scams before, and now he's at it again with this Fiat Visions outfit. Can anyone more versed in investments please let me know if this is a scam? Thanks. Just trying to look out for someone who really seems easily duped. #MastoQuestion #MastoQuestions

#CommonLisp #Mastoquestions #prettyPrinting
So I do want to pretty print some forms, but I don't want the "oh this is a when form" pretty printing. What to do?
(princ '((when the first atom is when this happens)))
(princ '((but otherwise this happens))
*but imagine these forms are really long -
#CommonLisp #mastoquestions @svetlyak40wt @galdor I forgot. I am giving modules of an asdf system their own packages.
I'm confused: I'm just 'defpackage ing #:foo.bar #:foo.baz packages in bar and baz modules of the foo package. But I thought in asdf I should be making subpackages named #:foo/bar and #:foo/baz automatically (but I lack an example at hand). Is that reserved for asdf's package-inferred-system stuff? What's the right style for asdf modules?https://asdf.common-lisp.dev/asdf.html#The-package_002dinferred_002dsystem-extension

#mastoquestions I’m curious why I sometimes see people who I’m not following in my home feed, as I thought the home feed was just people who I’m following or posts containing hashtags that I’m following. But I definitely get some posts that are neither. Curious as to why, anyone know?
