I'm glad the NDP is bringing attention to the issue of surveillance pricing.
I notice today that the Liberal Party shut down Don's motion on preventing surveillance pricing. Seems they are just sycophants of big business.

On a positive note. It is nice to see a diversity of women continuing to be a strong part of the Liberal Party caucus of MPs.
All three MPs elected in the by-elections on Monday were women, two POC including Doly Begum who was previously an Ontario NDP MPP and deputy leader of that party.

Glad to see NDP MP Jenny Kwan standing up for this program. Obviously Carney does not care. His priorities are focused on militarization, tax cuts, and oil export.

Good to see the NDP in second with 18.9% of the vote in one of the by-elections last night.
The polarization between the Bloc and Liberals in Terrebonne is pretty stunning but at least there was a clear winner this time! The CPC got just 3% and the other three barely added up to 1% there!
The Toronto ridings were at least a little more spread out, but both remain solid Liberal seats with more than 60% of the vote.
I don’t like how the Liberals gained their majority, a first in Canadian history… but that’s the hand we are dealt. Time to work at it.

I'd prefer for the Liberals not to hold a majority in the House of Commons, but the truth is it won't make much difference. The policy differences between the #LPC and the #CPC have been relatively small since #MarkCarney became PM [0], and none of the opposition parties really want an election in the foreseeable future.
[0] Major differences are that the #CPC favours tougher anti-crime policy, lower deficits, more focus on cost-of-living and more shovels in the ground.

This mixed and increasingly insane tent of Carney's Liberals is fine for him now that the Liberals are popular. But eventually that will wane. And when it does there will be more nutcase eruptions like what we saw with Michael Ma. And I'm guessing Marilyn Gladu will reveal some odd gems in the future.
Speakers at the Liberal convention talked about two things: values, and "the mission" (which, I gather, is turning us into a militaristic petrol state). Regarding "values", we notice that Carney has said nothing about Alberta's attacks on trans rights, or on both Alberta and Ontario increasingly violating the Canada Health Act and allowing more and more private health care in the system. It's bonkers. What are these "values" that they're talking about that they supposedly care about?

From Power & Politics I learned that there's a rumour of another floor crosser going to happen on Saturday. That is the last day of the Liberal convention (happening in Montreal). If true, it likely is being timed to help their result in the Terrebonne by-election.
