He is the former county recorder for Maricopa County, Arizona, and oversaw elections there in 2020. The #JusticeDepartment has sued Arizona and over 20 other states [includng #Maine] for their full #VoterRegistration lists. 'No means no,' Fontes says in response to the Trump administration’s encroachment on state authority. 'We should not be handing over any of our personal identifying information to the president. Not only should we not be doing it, but it’s against the law for me to fulfill the request from the Department of Justice.' "

While I'm tempted to say let's #nationalize #VIA rail (it kind of already is), the freight operators and the network operators, it's going to be difficult to convince a part of the population for #ideological reasons. Our neighbours to the south have had some success with private ventures in #Florida, #Texas, and other places, maybe there is something to learn?
