Donaldson joined here by Leo Morris (drums), George Benson (guitar), Lonnie Smith (organ) and Blue Mitchell (trumpet). Very groovy soul-jazz LP from late sixties Blue Note.
Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in Englewood Cliffs and produced by Francis Wolff.

Alligator Bogaloo is an album by #jazz #saxophonist #LouDonaldson recorded for the #BlueNote label in 1967 and featuring Donaldson with #MelvinLastie, #LonnieSmith, #GeorgeBenson, and #LeoMorris (later to be better known as Idris Muhammad). The success of the title track surprised Donaldson: "[W]e made the date and we were three minutes short. I said we don't have no more material. And the guy said just play anything for three minutes so we can fill out the time. So I just made the riff.

Once I was challenged to name 10 #albums that influenced my musical taste and life. 9 of 10:
#Soundtrack: Cat's Eye Season 1 (1983). The #anime series is one of my all-time favorite classics. I got this #rare #vinyl nearly 20 years ago as an unexpected #gift from a friend in #Paris. It is a mixture of #70s #instrumentals (#LonnieSmith?) and #80s #disco. In 1997, I used the #lyrics of the track "Hot Stuff" (then unknown to me) as #scratch lyrics for my #song "Curse of Man", released 2019.
