Another Sunday, another Bill Evan’s live LP from Resonance. This one was recorded October 23, 1968 in Greenwich Village. This time Eddie Gomez and Marty Morell join Evans.

This was recorded by Geoge Klabin himself, founder of the Rising Jazz Stars foundation and Resonance Records, as a 22 year old college student.

Another fantastic Blue Note jazz LP, this came out originally in 1966. It features Mitchell (trumpet) with Junior Cook (tenor sax), Chick Corea (piano), Gene Taylor (bass), and Aloysius Foster (drums), and was recorded at Van Gelder Studios in New Jersey.

Nel quartiere dei teatri di Pompei, in un semplice corridoio di passaggio che collegava l’area teatrale alla via Stabiana, stanno riemergendo frammenti preziosi della vita quotidiana, dei gladiatori ma anche delle persone ordinarie. Non grandi affreschi né architetture monumentali, ma scritture spontanee, incise sugli intonaci: amori dichiarati (e, chissà, magari non corrisposti…), offese, invocazioni agli dei, riferimenti a combattimenti nelle arene. Tracce di un uno spazio pubblico intensamente vissuto, e oggi tornate nuovamente leggibili grazie alle tecnologie digitali applicate all’archeologia.

Un ambiente scavato da oltre due secoli, ma ancora capace di parlare

Il corridoio fu scavato alla fine del XVIII secolo, nel 1794, ed è uno dei luoghi più frequentati dai visitatori del sito. Proprio per questo, non ci si attendevano ulteriori scoperte. Eppure, attraverso nuove metodologie di documentazione, è stato possibile rileggere sistematicamente le pareti, portando a quasi 300 iscrizioni, tra le circa 200 già note e 79 nuove identificazioni.

Tra i testi emergono storie personali come l’iscrizione “Erato amat…” (“Erato ama”… Chissà chi?), allusioni a relazioni amorose, frasi di scherno, inviti, battute oscene e riferimenti a combattimenti gladiatori, che trasformano il corridoio in una sorta di bacheca collettiva dell’antica Pompei.

Il progetto “Bruits de couloir” e l’archeologia delle scritture informali

Lo studio rientra nel progetto “Bruits de couloir” (Voci di corridoio), ideato da Louis Autin ed Éloïse Letellier-Taillefer (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne) e Marie-Adeline Le Guennec (Université du Québec à Montréal), in collaborazione con il Parco Archeologico di Pompei. Le ricerche, condotte nel 2022 e nel 2025, hanno adottato un approccio multidisciplinare, integrando epigrafia, archeologia, filologia e le cosiddette “digital humanities” (informatica umanistica).

L’uso di una griglia virtuale ha permesso di analizzare i rapporti spaziali e tematici tra le iscrizioni, restituendo la logica di frequentazione e interazione sociale dello spazio.

RTI e conservazione digitale: vedere ciò che l’occhio non vede

Fondamentale è stato l’impiego della RTI – Reflectance Transformation Imaging, una tecnica di fotografia computazionale che consente di leggere incisioni impercettibili a occhio nudo, anche su superfici degradate. Questa metodologia non solo consente nuove letture, ma rappresenta uno strumento decisivo per la conservazione digitale di un patrimonio fragile e vulnerabile.

È in fase di sviluppo una piattaforma 3D che integrerà fotogrammetria, dati RTI e metadati epigrafici, offrendo un ambiente digitale per lo studio, l’annotazione e la futura fruizione pubblica delle iscrizioni.

Tecnologia e tutela: il futuro della memoria pompeiana

Come ha sottolineato il direttore del Parco, Gabriel Zuchtriegel, a Pompei sono note oltre 10.000 iscrizioni, un archivio straordinario della vita vissuta. Per questo è prevista anche la realizzazione di una copertura protettiva del corridoio, destinata a preservare gli intonaci e a consentire una visita integrata, in cui archeologia e tecnologia dialoghino senza mediazioni spettacolari, ma con rigore scientifico.

after watching kunal kamra's podcast (https://youtu.be/opbEHULi7JU) and also the @internetfreedom take on the #DPDP act (digital personal data protection), i really would like to bring some attention to the fact that this new act in #india threatens #transparency, #accountability and thereby #democracy.

the new #DPDP act allows the #government to prevent sharing certain information under the guise of protecting personal information. this violates the #RTI Act (right to information) and prevents citizens from holding the government accountable by eliminating any form of transparency in governance.

the act also prevents individuals and journalists to investigate and collect any data that the government might consider to be a violation of the act and issue penalties of up to 250 crores (which can be extended 500).

as someone who is a huge #privacy advocate, it is nice to see initiatives parallel to the #GPDR but it cannot come at the cost of government silencing public scrutiny.
