Released Nov 1993 well in what is mythical territory for the internet. That means a Wiki entry in only four languages and few sources. But this seemed interesting:
https://www.udiscovermusic.com/stories/us3-hand-on-the-torch-feature/Apparently the first platinum-certified album put out by #BlueNote Records.

“A brilliant version (and overall session, that for some reason #BlueNote shelved for around 15 years before finally releasing it), with Green’s perfect tone propelling the #song into the stratosphere.” #GrantGreen open.substack.com/pub/mrlee718... #music #MusicSky #guitar #GuitarSky #jazz #JazzSky

Herbie Hancock, My Point of View, 1963 on Blue Note
Hancock's sophomore album as a leader, recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in Englewood Cliffs NJ. Hancock joined by Donald Byrd (trumpet), Gracham Moncur III (trombone), Hank Mobley (tenor sax), Grant Green (guitar), Chuck Isreals (bass), and Anthony Williams (drums). Herbie Hancock is a master, and it is wonderful to find the early Blue Note albums - I now have the first five in good vinyl editions. All the tracks on this one are Hancock originals - love "Blind Man, Blind Man" which recalls & […]https://goatless.org/2026/05/28/herbie-hancock-my-point-of-view-1963-on-blue-note

Grant Green, Green is Beautiful, 1970 on Blue Note
Green joined here by Blue Mitchell (trumpet), Claude Bartee (tenor sax), Emmanuel Riggens (organ), Jimmy Lewis (bass), and Idris Muhammad (drums) plus Richard Lendrum (bongos) and Candido Camero (congas). Recorded in 1970 by Rudy Van Gelder in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. My copy—via Salem Flea Marketplace—is the 2023 Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series reissue, mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio and pressed at Optimal, which sounds (and looks) great.https://goatless.org/2026/05/16/grant-green-green-is-beautiful-1970-on-blue-note

#NowSpinning No More Water: The Gospel Of James Baldwin by Meshell Ndegeocello
I didn’t really have expectations when I threw this into my last #BlueNote order, but it seemed interesting when I read about it. What a wonderful surprise this has been so far.

Cliff Jordan, Cliff Jordan, 1957 on Blue Note
Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in Hackensack NJ, Jordan is joined by John Jenkins (alto sax), Art Taylor (drums), Ray Bryant (piano), Curtis Fuller (trombone) and Lee Morgan (trumpet). This is one of two Blue Note LPs he put out in 1957 (the other was Blowing in From Chicago with John Gilmore). My copy—via Amazon—is the 2024 Blue Note Tone Poet Series reissue, with lacquer by Kevin Gray and pressing at RTI. Although they used the "mono" labels here and the spine also says mono, the LP is […]https://goatless.org/2026/04/28/cliff-jordan-cliff-jordan-1957-on-blue-note

Horace Silver Quintet, Silver’s Serenade, 1963 on Blue Note
The quintent here is Silver joined by Blue Mitchell (trumpet), Junior Cook (tenor sax), Gene Taylor (bass), and Roy Brooks (drums). Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder in Englewood Cliffs, with Alfred Lion producing. My copy—via Amazon—is another Blue Note Tone Poet Series reissue from 2024. Yes, I realize there are other jazz labels and other reissue series - but so many of these are so good they are hard to resist.https://goatless.org/2026/04/25/horace-silver-quintet-silvers-serenade-1963-on-blue-note

The glass of Bordeaux that I’ve been slowly sipping on is almost empty, and I’m not far from flipping this record to side 2. Relaxing in a comfy chair listening to great music is one of life’s greatest pleasures. Added this to an order from a Discogs seller because it was 5 bucks…it’s in pristine condition, and sounds amazing - even though it’s one of those thin floppy records! (Eat your heart out heavyweight vinyl people!) And the streak of “I have never been disappointed by a #BlueNote” continues. After side B I expect a glorious slumber.

Good morning for some #autumnleaves. Have a few copies of this, went with the original mono press which is in remarkable condition. Probably my cleanest OG #bluenote. So great. #cannonballadderly #milesdavis #hankjones #samjones #artblakey #vinyl #jazz #jazzrecords @vinylrecords

The great unknown on this great album is alto sax player Kenny Rodgers (with a D), 19 at the time. There'a hardly any info to find about him. Thoughts?

“[Little Big] feels like … a project that I’m going to keep turning to throughout the years. All of us in the band have a feeling of fellowship that we’ve started to build that is very special. The band also feels like an outlet for something I’m after creatively. I feel there’s something here with this particular intersection of different styles of music in the music we’re making. There’s still a lot more to find.” - Aaron Parks

Some Saturday night #jazz with #sonnyclark. These early 80s #japanese #bluenote pressings used to be a great value but like all other older BNs they’ve gone up a ton in the last few years. Great record. #jazzrecords #vinyl #vinylcollection #recordcollection @vinylrecords

Directed by Mama Hotdog. From Joy'All out now on Blue Note.
Jenny Lewis is giving off some dreamy Stevie Nicks vibes in her latest single. It's almost enough to make you want to dust off your skateboard and chug some cran-raspberry. Follow along as Lewis works off that juju fr...

If I could afford it I would only collect OG #bluenote records, and while still mostly gravitate toward them, the #tonepoet reissues are done so well they are hard to pass up as gap fillers. Love this one. What a lineup and session. #jazz #jazzrecords #jazzvinyl #records @vinylrecords

Wayne Shorter: THE ALL SEEING EYE (Blue Note, 1966; “Tone Poet” reissue: Blue Note, 2021)
Remembering saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter, who passed away yesterday. A true master of composition, form, and style, Shorter played and wrote for three legendary bands and set the course of mid-century jazz as surely as contemporaries like Davis and Coltrane. A master.
