Green joined here by Blue Mitchell (trumpet), Claude Bartee (tenor sax), Emmanuel Riggens (organ), Jimmy Lewis (bass), and Idris Muhammad (drums) plus Richard Lendrum (bongos) and Candido Camero (congas). Recorded in 1970 by Rudy Van Gelder in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. Morning from the Colorado Flatirons, well at least for the next 14-minutes.
Today I'm starting out with this #DavidMatthews and the Central Park Kids cover of Beatles songs. It's really very good, especially the cover of "Michelle" - I don't think Matthews got the recognition that he deserved, most people remember him for #EstherPhillips and #IdrisMuhammad - they don't know he arranged the band for Simon & Garfunkel's "Central Park Live", or James Brown, or Nina Simone's CTI epic.
